My dogs throw up on car rides?
so im going to big bear lake and my beagles throw up whenever we take car rides. what can i do or use to prevent them from throwing up.?
Dont let them eat before you go, i dont mean starve them but less food i the tummy = less throw up or non at all. A couple hours before you go take the food away. Water is okay tho.
Do you crate them in the car? When we stopped crating our dog on car rides he stopped getting sick.

EDIT: Yeah I hear you, I'm not sure what else to suggest though, we wouldn't feed our dog before car trips and he'd still throw up bile - yuck! So I guess you have to figure out what's worse - hair or puke... Can't you put down blankets or something?
keep them on the floor of the vehicle, Dramin or Dramamine (1 drop/kg, may sleep), give them bones to chew on, ginger capsule with vanilla ice cream about an hour before, ginger snap cookies
Most likely just motion sickness. Unfortunately, it's not something you can erase entirely. You can avoid the puke by making sure you don't feed them up to an hour before the ride, so any food they ate has already been settled, stop every other hour, or half hour, depending on frequency of vomit to let the dog out and stretch, get their bearings back, and get back into the car, and when you do feed them, always wait at the minimum 30 minutes before starting the car again. Also avoid going around curves too fast, hills if you can, and bumps. Crating them will only help them a little, like seat belts help us from moving too much, but they'll still get a bit nausea with them. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Edit: If it's severe, or you have to go on a long trip that doesn't have many places to pull over, go to the vet to ask for something you can feed your dog to make them sleep on the ride.
