I have a one year old cocker mixed shih tzu dog. She's crazy about dogs and postmen outside our house. Whenever she sees dogs passing by our main gate, she will bark and go crazy. I tried to stop her by holding her and telling her a firm "NO". She bites when I try to grab hold of her !! It really hurts when she bites. I really don't know what to do. I just got 2 bite wounds today!

How do I solve this problem? I love her and I don't want her to bite! She's a lovely dog. Other that this problem, she's a sweet dog.

get a big water pistol..and shoot her with the water every time she starts her episode ....that should work...and no its not cruel either

Get a training dog whistle. It won't hurt her but if you make the noise every time she barks, she won't like it and will soon learn not to bark.

When she doesn't bark, reward her.

Don't grab her. She's going to be a nasty little watch dog, and she does NOT love the dogs and the postman.

Hi it doesn't matter what size dog you have if you have issues like this its best to go to doggie school they will teach you not the dog on how to handle all kind of problems. i've owned dogs all my life and the dog i have now was my 1st that ever need pro training and i'm so glad i did it he's such a great dog now. (he's 140 lbs lol) and just a love !
