Raw Chicken Gizzards? ..........?
Is it okay to feed my Chihuahua's?

I am roasting a chicken for dinner & usually the whole chickens that I buy do not have the innards as well. This one did....are gizzards okay?....I'm pretty sure they are, but wanted the advice from you all. :)
answer:
Wont hurt them, but might upset their stomachs if they are not used to them.

I gave my dogs raw beef ribs, which they all loved, but there was some runny pooh for a day.

If you feed raw then it is okay and if you feed regular food I would suggest you cook it first.
Your dog may get the diarrhea from it because the meat is rich like liver, heart, kidneys, etc because the meat is an organ meat and it has alot of protein so I would suggest you give your dog a small piece and save the rest for tomorrow.
ANY raw meat you buy in your grocery store is fine to feed your dog unless it's been enhanced (over 100mg sodium per serving). If you don't feed a raw diet, just don't mix the raw food with kibble. The two digest differently, and mixing them can cause stomach upset. And if your dog is not used to getting such treats, don't give too much at one time. Recipe for diarrhea.
Feeding raw meat is a great idea - but NOT if they are not used to it.

If this is a one off then I wouldn't bother. It takes too much change for the stomach to digest raw if they are used to kibble, and you'll probably find they they'll get the runs the next day.

If you do cook it and pull off any from the bones (neck) then that would be ok, but not really much benefit.
Hey Chi - I feel it's perfectly fine, though as you know if they're not used to receiving raw foods it may be rather rich for them (especially being an organ meat) and they may get the runs.
I would think they're perfectly fine. But feeding anything raw meat is never a good idea. Cook them first to kill the bacteria and prevent your dogs from getting sick or diseased.
As long as theres NO bones, chicken bones splinter and will cause gi bleed.
