Does this bother you?
Okay so before I start I just want to say I am not against these type of dogs at all!

So anyway, it kindda bothers me when people talk about pitbuls and other bully breeds and they say stuff like, "Oh well look at chihuahuas! hey bite but no one says anything about that!" It's like seriously? I understand the point they are trying to make but it's really silly to me! Pitbuls and other similar breeds are much bigger and do A WHOLE LOT more damage!! Would you rather a pit bite you or a chihuahua?

What are you thoughts on this? does it bother you? do you think its silly?

*and again I'm not saying anything bad about those breeds of dogs! I know a pit and he is a big sweetheart! its the owners that make them mean in my opinion.*
Well it's true that it is embedded in the breed for pitbulls to be more aggressive. (of course not true in all cases.) But no that doesn't bother me at all.
no not really but i use the argument that we owned a pit bull but i was bit by a lab.
I think questions like this are silly, and pointless. It's getting old. Almost as annoying as the people who compare small dog bites with big dog bites. Keep it moving. Move on.
Pitts have a MUCH different disposition than the dogs I'm used to--like Golden R's and Labs, cockers, cockapoos. I would probably for SURE get bit by a pitt because he would sense my nervousness aound him. I just don't trust them at all--once they are about two. I also have a phobeia of shepherds. I've met nice dogs in both breeds, and am darn good with dogs in general--mine, neighbor dogs, you name it. I even like Staphies and they like me. They don't make me nervous. Just the pitts and shepherds. The only dogs I really detest, (and no offence to the owners of these dogs--I know you love them) are Shelties. They are beautiful, but they are nasty viscious sneaks. When you meet them--like go to someones' house, they are all nicey nice to you. But by the time you leave, they jump and rip at your clothes and growl. Or they snarl if you reach out for them to pet, after they've been all nicey nice to you. Sort of like Republicans.
I think certain dogs are by nature more aggressive than others. Just in general, some animals are more aggressive than others (would you go up to a bear or a wolf or a lion?). Why should it be any different with dogs? That being said, I don't think it's impossible for pitbulls and other aggressive dogs to love and be loved in return -- that's absurd. All animals are looking for and deserve kind treatment and compassion. Oftentimes we see that people who own pitbulls ENCOURAGE them to be aggressive, which leads to negative consequences and thus the bad reputation. I think if a person is gentle and caring AND respectful of his or her boundaries (lions can be tamed, but that doesn't mean there's no more danger), any animal can be a good friend.
The comparison is made because dog bites are the result of poor training and owners, whether they're from a Chihuahua or a Pit. No, they are not anywhere near the same, but people use the comparison to demonstrate that any poorly-trained dog will bite.
