A question for a Vet, what's wrong with my dog?
Hi,
To make this story short, my dog has Myasthenia Gravis. We have been treating it for over two months now. He has been vomiting lately, and we have been considering a feeding tube, since he also has megaesophogus. Tonight, on top of vomiting, he has diarrhea, when we went to clean him off, he wimpered and we noticed his anus was very red and inflamed, and appeared to have red (leakage?) I don't think it was blood, it wasn't a very bright red. It looked more raw then leaky. Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows if this is a relation to his disease, I haven't heard of it being, of course we are taking him to the vet tomorrow, but im so frantic I just wondered if anyone had a clue. Thanks.
I doubt you will find a vet on YAD to answer your question. As you have a dog with a condition/s that most will not know the meaning, let alone understand the complications of symptoms I would give your vet an after hours call, it's free and that is what vets are there for, should be there for at all times, night and day.

Red inflamation can be caused by irritation from diarrhea, bathe with some warm, salty water, a quarter teaspoon in 500ml is enough to relieve the pain and itching.
It could be a number of things! He may have hemorrhoids, colitis... or might just need his anal glands expressed!
There is also a virus called parvo that creates bloody diarrhea, but it's highly unlikely that he has it. Does this blood-like leakage have a "unique" smell? Has your dog been tired lately? Has he lost his appetite?
Anyhow, don't freak out, I doubt it's anything serious. It's good that you're going to see the vet tomorrow though. Best of luck, I hope your doggy is healthy!
