My guess is that the sounds is bothering the dog. Pay attention to whether it's all the time, or when your son is playing certain tunes, hits certain notes. If you realize the playing is bothering the dog, see if there is a way you can separate the two while your son practices. Consider putting the dog in the yard, or having your son play in a quiet room far away from the dog's space. I've never heard of doggie ear plugs ... but if you find them at work, could be worth a shot.
