Does the pedi paw work?

my dog is having no part of me clip his nails .... does the pedipaw work to file them down?
Yes it works, but it takes a long time, and is loud. Most dogs are afraid of the noise. It's very time consuming, but is handy to have.
Pedi paws is okay for small dogs (malteses, bichons, chis, etc) but doesn't have enough power to do thicker nails. I would suggest going to walmart and buying a $ 20 dremmel instead. As with anything your dog will have to get used to the sensation of it. And when useing it don't leave it on one nail to long as it can easily burn and hurt (both pedi paws and Dremmel)
Yes and no.

As far as dogs being "better" about having their nails filed instead of clipped - I wouldn't count on it at first. Like clipping, over time your dog will get used to it, but most dogs are scared by the pedi paws before it even touches them!

As far as being effective - it depends on your dogs nails. For small dogs or for softer nails, it probably does a good job. But my cattle dog has thick black nails and it doesn't really do much. I still keep it around to smooth out his nails after I clip them, but that's mostly because I'm a scaredy cat about clipping too much off and only take a little off at a time;)

I'm guessing your boxer will have touch nails like my ACD, so it's probably not worth the money. If you're really stuck, you can probably call around to a groomer to see if they'll trim 'em. Sometimes they won 't (like a minimum charge per visit thing and they can't charge you that much to trim nails) but you could always send him in for the "works" if you're desperate!

Good luck!
NO! I advise u not to spend your money on a pedi paw. I bought it for mu puppy, and not only is it loud but its actually worse for your dog's nails. After i used it on 3 nails the emery board became dull and i found out you have to buy more emery heads and replace them. Also it not only cracked my pup's nail i didnt know when to stop because i couldn't see his nail while it was being filed. What i did was i had my brother pick up my pup while i clipped his nails with a regular clipper because my dog gets really calm when you pick him up. I advise you to try making someone hold him while u clip his nails. Please dont waste your money on a pedi paw, ive been there - done that!
Pedi-paws is an ok tool for weekly maintenance of the nails, but not very good for really getting length down .. even then a dremel works better because you can get different shaped pieces with different amounts of "roughness". That and I find that the guard on the pedi paws gets in the way more than it protects .. Ive pulled it off and tried it on my skin to see how rough it would be and it's really not that bad .. it'll stop if there's too much pressure so I don't even bother with the guard. Honestly you're better off with a good sharp pair of clippers, and a dremel to soften them afterward .
In my opinion, the Pedipaws is a piece of junk that should have never been made. While it may work for small touch ups and small dogs, it does not work for bigger dogs and really long nails. It is just too slow and weak for that. The "guard" if you can call it that is crap, it doesn't work and it breaks easily. I personally threw mine out, and got another dremel.
If you are looking to take length off the nails you should clip them. If you are unsure how to or are scared to do it because you don't want to hit the quick, then call a groomer. They can clip your dogs nails for a small fee. They will file them to if you ask them.
technically yes. i have a standard chihuahua and even with that small size, it takes a while. you'd really have to do it on a regular basis. if not, it's a pain and can get hot. my chihuahua doesn't really like but it MUCH better then trying to clip HER nails! SHE SCREAMS!!!: (i just gave up on both and take her somewhere to get them clipped.:)
My dog doesn't like it all that much, but it does work well. She tolerates it when she has too. My sister has a Chi that loves it though. Start at the bottom of the nail and work up. Work in increments and be aware of the quick.
I take my dog to the vet once a month for a bath and for a nail clipping. She is a lab so no need for a haircut. the cost is $ 20 and well worth it.
Yes, but it is VERY slow; unless the dog is a toy, you'll spend an hour on each foot.

I have a 50-pound chow mix; I use scissors clippers.
Yes but you can see from what the other answers thought. It's slow, cheap, and for little dogs. No more needed to be said.
It works, but as said .. it i very slow.

I would invest in a better dermel .. don't waste your money on the pedi-paws
