I have a 3 month maltese. I took him to the groomer on friday and he came back tired and lazy. He wouldn't eat and he kept whining. I thought that the groomer just tired him out because this has happened before. But yesterday it was still going on. I shoved food down his throat followed by water. Next, I bought a puppy nursing bottle and I fed him diluted evaporated milk. Also I gave him Nuti-Stat to bring his energy up. I left him at home for a little bit and when I returned he had threw up what looked to be the Nutri-Stat and some white slimy stuff. I picked him up and he threw up on me. Next he started opening and closing his mouth several times. I thought it was a seizure but I am not sure. Later last night, he was pacing and walking into closed corners and trying to get though. He would start whimpering if he couldn't get into that corner. He was very clumsy and slipping and he would carelessly walk through his water and food. I set up a blanket in a corner and he slept there the whole night. I went to sleep around 3:45 and my mom said she woke up at 4:00 am and he had moved to another spot and BM'd and then moved back to his blanket. This morning he cant walk and he is very sleepy. I fed him by shoving food down followed by alot of water to prevent dehydration. He drinks and swallows but won't eat for himself. He was perfectly happy and barking and playful before I took him to the groomer. He was even playful for a little while when he came back from the groomer then I guess he just collapsed and fell asleep. This is not the 1st time that he has been sick but however this is the longest that he's been sick and the 1st time that he's thrown up. Please Help!
You must take this puppy to a vet. You know he's sick so do the right thing by him .
TAKE HIM TO THE VET/CAVES (Capital Area Vet. Emergency Services) !!!!!!
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I say this because he might be having an allergic reaction to something. We had a dog like that before do the exact same things.
Does your puppy have all his shots. Sounds a little like distemper. I think this calls for a vet visit for sure. Distemper can be fatal. Good luck with your puppy, I hope he does not have distemper.
It MUST be drugs.
Or he ingested a crowbar.
Sounds like he needs to see a vet.
We have a Maltipoo when he was 41/2 he exhibited some of the same signs you should take him to the vet right away. They keep him overnight for observation blood work, x-rays, dehydration, and the final diagnosis: Portosystemic Shunt=Liver Shunt Sergery. Look this up see if this is what's happening. This is very serious and it's major surgery and lots of money. Did your puppy come with a health gaurantee? If so contact your breeder or where ever you bought him, with ours it was congenital. It was passed on by his mother or father it genetic. I wish you lots of luck with your new puppy. Does he have all of his shots? He could have picked something up from thr groomer's.
you might give him pepto bismol and try not to over feed him .. this happens to my chihuahua but the thing is that when i was giving him a bath he was triying to drink that water and later he was just laying down .. and nauseas dont wanted to eat eigther .. so i give him pepto and next day he was just ok .. happy and playing .. so it wount be bad if you give a small amount of pepto maybe he drink or eat somnthing ..
He's telling you that he wants to see the vet. You need to stop force feeding and watering him and get him some proper vet care. A puppy that will not eat and drink on his own is sick. Never force feed or force water a vomiting puppy. You need to ask the groomer if anything happened during the grooming procedure. Hopefully this puppy has been properly vaccinated.
Your first clue was shoving food & milk down his throat? This pup needs a vet, and someone who doesn't shove food down his throat.! You could have gotten the food stuck in his airway, instead of his esophagus. That is why he was gasping for air ..., and probably why you have a really sick pup now, YOU never shove food & water down anything 'throat!! He is needing someone now ... called a vet! I hope you haven't messed him up too bad! This is why they have vets to help you when a pup or any dog isn't acting right.
