How much is my dog supposed to weigh? Breed-Cockalier?

I have a cockalier, he is a mixture between a cocker spaniel & a cavalier king charles. After I had him neutered, he is always hungry and he is packing on the pounds. Since November he has gained 5.5 lbs, for a small dog that is a lot, he looks obviously bigger. Is that a concern for my dog to be 27.5 lbs and this breed? What is the appropriate weight range for this breed?
Your vet can tell you. If he's got good body weight and he still has a waist .. he should be alright. When you look at him from above does he have a nice Curve into his hips? He could take most of his genetic make up from his Cocker lineage.
Mutts are unpredictable . The best you can do is read both breed standards. I hope you adopted this dog, and didn't buy him, because only backyard breeders with no regard for genetics and proven breeding stock will produce mutts. Please call him a Cocker Spaniel and Cavalier mix instead, so you won't be promoting the unethical "designer dog" industry.
A "cockalier" is NOT A BREED, it is a MUTT. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

It should be called that so to not confuse other people like yourself into thinking it is a breed.

To answer your question, mutts are unpredictable. Your dog could be as small as a cavalier, as big as a cocker, smaller than both breeds or bigger than both breeds. 27.5 lbs sounds healthy to me. There is no "weight range" for a mutt. I have a golden/border collie mix that's only 29 lbs, he is on the small side for a BC and TINY for a golden. Unexpected, but hey, he's a mutt, NOT a breed.
No, it's not a breed, therefore there's no standard for weight, but that can be true of any poorly bred example of actual breeds as well. You should be able to feel the ribs under a light layer of fat in an adult dog, and you should see a slight tuck behind the ribcage when looking at him from above
The is no actual breed known as a Cockalier. It is just a term used to describe the mix of the 2 breeds. You just have a mixed breed dog. Cocker Spaniels range between 15 and 30 pounds. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels average between 10 to 18 pounds. Since he is mixed you will need to judge his weight his frame. Your vet can help you determine his ideal weight.
