she is a pit-bull/doberman mix, about 1 year old, and just loves to chew things "off-limits" like my magazines, books, shoes, etc. and just this morning, she chewed the rug, drug my potted plant off the window sill, chewed the cat's scratch post, destroyed my mom's brand new shoes. if i hadn't put it up, she would have eaten my laptop too. what do i do??? (besides give her up). also, she still does is when i'm home, but not nearly as bad. thanks!!
She need more excersize and a ton of chew toys. Every time she starts to chew something, correct her and give her one of her toys. Also, check to see if her gums and teeth look healthy. There might be a medical reason she's chewing so much ... good luck ..
Boredom. Plain and simple. Your dog needs tons more exercise and mental stimulation. Start feeding the dog with feeder puzzle toys. The Tug-A-Jug is one of my favorites and has actually lasted more than a year with daily use in my pack of 3 pits and one Rottweiler 3 of which are serious chewers. Also be sure to have safe approved chews down. Rawhide is a NO NO but bully sticks are okay but expensive. Deer antlers are the way to go. As long as they aren't too old to be soft or chalky, they won't break and splinter like bones can, they last a really long time and most dogs love them. The magellen nylabone is another one that has lasted.
This sounds like one extremely bored, frustrated dog. How much exercise does she get every day? I'd be willing to bet its not even close to being enough for her.

How about training? How much time to do you spend training every day?
What do you do? You exercise her, train her, and crate her when you aren't there to watch her. Just like everyone else who's got a very young, active dog.
Get a bunch of new toys, like KONG , you can put peanut butter, or something in it and that will keep her occupied for awhile. Or bring her to a puppy day care while your gone. Also, bring her on a half hour walk when you get home. Hope I helped! !
u should just watch for when she chews on something that way when she does u hit her (not 2 hard) and after a while she will learn not to chew on everything
Cute!!
mine too ! She is a chihuahua and she is destroying my house!
