I work at a kennel and i have the opportunity to either buy a Pomeranian or Shih-Tzu. I feel in love with both of them and I don't know which one to pick. They are both boys and the Pomeranian is orange and black . I know that they are yappy and the shed, but i am leaning toward him. The Shih-Tzu on the other hand looks just like the female i already have, in fact it is her half-brother. I have been thinking this over for weeks and I need to make a decision quick. Please help if anybody has any input as to what I should do.

Hello! What I've noticed first is that you wrote Poms are yappy. That is so wrong! Any dog is yappy if allowed to , so is the Pom. These 2 breeds have different temperaments, so I think that you should do some research before choosing one. They also have very different types of coats - Poms have double, fluffy coat, which sheds constantly. They need to be brushed 2-3 times per week. Shih Tzus have long hair (which can be cut so they look like puppies) which sheds very lightly, but daily brushing is a must to prevent tangling. And yes, Poms are smarter. Pomeranian ranks 23rd, and Shih Tzu ranks 70th. I prefer Poms. I will get myself a puppy:) For more info and doing some research, visit these helpful sites:

Never choose on looks. Spend quality time with both of them. You may end up liking the Shih-Tzu better! They are both incredibly cute ...:)
I prefer Poms=) Shih-tzus are very cute, but I just love Pomeranians. I wish I had the opportunity to get one! And hey, if you already have a Shih-tzu why not try a Pom?

Ok i have a pomeranian poodle mix but she's almost completely pom. She is extremely loud and barks all the time. Also we had to get a special trainer for her because she would bite and have random attacks on people. Shes really cute and I love her but it cost a lot of money to get her trained not to attack. However the barking is still a problem. It's a constant headache. We even played with her in the store and she seemed so friendly but when she got used to us she really lashed out. Best of luck choosing. If you do go for the pom they are really cute but its a lot of money, time and, effort.
