The woman that I bought my Pomeranian from, told me that he'd be around 9 pounds fully grown. Is this a normal weight for a Pomeranian? I'm 100% sure that he is a full breed. Both his parents are small, and they don't look 9 pounds. Help, please:)
Purebred doesn't mean that a dog will stay within the standard size. I had a purebred Pom that was over size at about at 9lbs. The average weight is 3-7lbs with the ideal weight 4-6lbs. At one time way back in history the Pom. was a 30lb. dog used for herding. The site below will give you more information on the breed.
Sounds about right. Check with AKC for breed standards. My book of dog breeds states their maximum height should be 12 "and average weight is 11 lb.
