My Friend feeds all 5 of her dogs beneful and they are beautifully healthy.
Dogs can live on Beneful but they won't be at their optimum health. Find a better food if you can afford it. Almost anything is better than Beneful (except Alpo or Pedigree).
To gain weight .... yes. But that doesn't mean that it isn't a total crap food.
Here is the ingredient list (partial):
Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), rice flour, beef, soy flour, sugar, propylene glycol, meat and bone meal
Whew ... we'll start with corn. Corn and corn byproducts cannot be metabolized by dogs and is the leading cause of food related allergies in dogs. And it's the FIRST INGREDIENT!!
Chicken By-product meal .... yuck. That's the leftover you wouldn't even want to think about eating.
Sugar is pretty high up there. Diabetes, anyone?
And here is the worst part .... meat and bone meal. Let me decode that for you. "Meat" listed as such in pet food is euthanized shelter animals, what's called 4D meat (meat from animals which are dead, diseased , dying or have been destroyed) and spoiled supermarket meats. All these lovely ingredients are shipped out to a rendering plant where they are cooked down (body bags, plastic wrapped meat and the styrofoam tray, collars, tags, phenobarbital from euth ** which does NOT cook down ** are all included) and added to the food your pet eats. Here is a good article with more info:
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com http://www.preciouspets.org/rendering.ht ... Now, would you want to feed that to your best friend?
Beneful has a great marketing team. They try to tell you it's balanced nutrition, but it's not even close. All it is is filler and crap ingredients.
Beneful is one of the top worse dog foods, Ol 'Roy or Atta Boy being the worse! You said before you can't afford to buy dog food, so you wanted to know how to make dog food. Making it is A LOT better then feeding your GSD/St. Bernard mix Beneful!!
Not a good dog food. I use Canidae ALS or Gentle Giants. Both all natural with no fillers or corn. All of my dogs have great coats and skin and are of good healthy weights. My 13 mos GSD is 29 "and 110 lbs and the 8 mos old is 80 lbs and 25 ".
Beneful is crap. Judging by your questions, I'd say you have no idea what" healthy "is in a dog.
Yes, Beneful can make a dog fat. Is doesn't make them healthy.
Good for your friend, but Beneful is one of the crappiest foods on the market. I wouldn't feed it to my dogs if I got it for free.
Blue buffalo is way better for your dog or Kirklands (Costco) just look at ingredients if the first three aren't some kind of meat that is not good. Animal by-products are never good in a dog food .
You keep asking questions about ur dog gaining weight. How about you take ur dog to the damn vet. If ur dog is skinny it doesn't matter what you feed it if they are sick!
