So Accent is one of the recommended remedies for coprophagia. My question is - how much are you supposed to use? And has anyone tried this and did it work for you?
I've heard never to use Accent.
It's a meat tenderizer so it's mostly salt and can cause UTI's.
I've heard varying advice as far as food goes. Some say to switch to a lower protein content as the dog doesn't use all the protein?? And others say to switch to a higher quality of food, one with no by- products as dogs can't digest cartilage but will still be attracted by the smell of it.
I had this problem but it seemed to resolve itself when I switched to a higher quality food so the second theory makes sense to me.
I've heard that pineapple works really well. You could try adding a spoonful or two of canned pineapple or pineapple juice to their food depending on how big your dogs are. Apparently it makes poop really bad tasting after it's digested.
There's also some products you can buy at pet stores in pill or powder form that will work in the same way.
