Just therapy, not service dog
Example: a very crazy, untrained, dog and human aggressive dog .. do you think if it was trained and learned to get along with other dogs and humans, it can become a therapy dog?
Or does the dog have to have special qualities?
Almost any dog can become a therapy dog. Even if a dog is super hyper, it can be trained to remain calm.
although an aggressive dog can be trained to not be aggressive, any dog that has ever shown signs of agression should never be used as a therapy dog. the reason for this being that no matter how nice it seems, you cannot play out ever possible situation and if the dog has ever displayed agression, it may become aggressive again under a certain sercumstance.
it is also difficult to train a highly fearful older dog to be less afraid.
it is easier to train a more calm, sweet tempered, friendly dog to be a therapy dog, although most dogs can become one!
Not necessarily, not in the classic sense or to be certified. Beyond just being nice, there are other things they must have. Extreme "nerve strength" would be one. My rottweiler has everything necessary to be a Therapy dog. He 'has earned his CGC and is very well socialized and calm. Unfortunately loud noises cause him to jump. This prevents him from being 100% save around people with crutches and walkers. Now, given enough time and dedication I could work this out of him but with some dogs (people really) there isn't enough time to dedicate. We still do participate in events, homes and hospitals but he is not called a "Therapy Dog" and gets special permission to attend.
The dog has to have an even temperament, with no signs of human or animal aggression. Any dog with those tendencies wouldn 't work since it can not be trained out of them since it's more genetic then anything else.

I think any dog as far as breed, or mutt can be a therapy dog as long as it has the correct temperament .. any dog with issues in that dept ... no way ...
I think any dog can be retrained but some take a LOT lot lot of persistence. Some dogs take over 3 years to rehabilitate. But others are easy and will take a few months.
But in the long run, I do think that any dog can be a therapy dog.
Well i might rephrase this to 99.999% of dogs, because there's always that one exception.
No. Not all dogs have the stable temperament required to be a therapy dog. Temperament is genetic. Training can make the most of a dog with a less than stellar temperament, but it won't change the dog's basic tendencies.
No I don't think a dog like you described should be considered to be a therapy dog. Therapy dogs are well trained, well socialized and have the personality for it.
Untrained is one thing. Crazy as in bouncing off walls is another. Dog and human aggression is genetics. Genetics cannot be changed.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com So, my answer is no.
It should be obvious that not every dog can be a therapy dog, especially not a human aggressive dog (even if it were to be trained to tolerate humans ... that's just too dangerous).
yes
