help .... i cant house train my 9 month old pug?

I bought a 9 month old pug puppy 4 weeks ago and he was supposed to be house trained, The lady said she was selling him as she worked to much but i know suspect she has the same problems and when i went to pick him up the poor guy was locked in the down stairs loo.

He is so good at everything else and doest wine or chew, HOWEVER he just wee's and poop's where ever he feels. When we are in we watch him like a hawk and if he squats I just make a loud noise and say no and take him outside, once he does it out there I give him a treat and loads of fuss. I'v also left a few poo's in the garden for sent. If he does it when im out or in bed i just clean it up and ignore it .

I have took him the vet who has given him a clean bill of health.

I have been doing this for 4 weeks now and he is no better, he has now even started wee'ing on his own bed.

Im going to get him a crete today to try and at least keep the mess to a minimum as i have 2 kids but with him pee'ing on his bed anyway i wonder if this method will work??? Also he seems to not like going outside as its cold. We went for walk in the woods with him yesterday and he did nothing in the 40 min we were out, but whilst we were taking our shoes off he peed on the floor in the kitchen???

HELP please:)
Pugs are hard at training,, period .. My daughter has 2 Pugs that will still make mistakes in the house .. 6yrs ltr ..

With proper training and I hope you are home with the dog all day as you are going to have to start as if he was an 8wk old puppy.

Many trips outside, every 1/2hr and tell the dog what you want it to do, especially right after eating and drinking. When he goes pee poop, Get all excited and have a treat ready with you and habd it to him ..

I give baby carrots.

My dogs are all 5-6-8 & 10yrs and I still make a big deal of it and they run to the treat jar ...

If he's cold.Buy a sweater coat while you are there and take him with so you can fot him properly ..
Make sure you get a special cleaner that will eliminate the dog's urine/poo scent in the house. This should help you with the house training. Also when you catch him to go in the house, you can yell a big no and stop him in the middle of it. If you don't catch him doing that, then it's too late and it's futile to correct him afterwards. Good luck.
look on the computer for a training class, When he goes to the bathroom in the house never ignore it. As you clean it up you should yell at him or else he thinks he can git away with it. Witch is not good, Act mad at him don't talk to him for a few Min's, because after you make him feel bad he with want to lick you so don't let him don't talk or pet him ether . Every time he does it repeat this.
While you are out buy him a sweater. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

If he is crate trained this will be easier.

Back up to square one and treat him like a young pup.

Feed him on a schedule. Meals 12 hours apart. No treats.

Pick up the water bowl 2 hours before bedtime.

It will take a few days for his body to adjust to the 12 hour/no treat feeding schedule.

Take him outside every 2 hours. When he goes reward, reward, reward. Get silly if you have to. He needs to know what he did outside was very special. Keep a record of what time he goes so that you can begin to anticipate the need in a week or two.

Return to this spot every time you go out.

Don't confuse him by having a good time soon after coming inside. For now, you want him to think outside pee/pooping is the place for fun.

When in the house keep his leash tied to your waist. There is no way he can go without you knowing.

If he isn't on the leash attached to your waist put him in the crate.

Use an enzyme cleaner to remove every bit of the urine/poop scent from your house or he will return to these places to relieve himself.

If there is no improvement in 7-10 days take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a bladder infection.
No, Angel, you have to think like the puppy. If you scold him and take him outside , in your mind you think you are potty training him, but in his mind, he got scolded and put outside, so in his puppy mind, outside becomes the place he doesn't want to go. Get a plan and stick to it, take him to his potty spot, use your commands, sit in a chair and wait, praise him when he does good. Use the bell method. I use a crate * to potty train with, but only for potty training and then I break it down and store it. I put blankets and a small food and water dish in the crate. Dogs don't potty where they eat and sleep. When they are first little, I only expect them to hold their potty for 4 hours, and then 6 hours, then 8 hours and so on. So when they are first little, I set a timer or alarm clock to wake myself up at night to take them * out. I only allow my puppy in the bedroom * or the living room, only one room at a time. They have to graduate to more space. If I allow them to have full run of the house, it will overwhelm them. I take them out the same door each time. I tie a dinner bell to the door handle. Do not use a jingle bell as they could get their toe caught in it. So when they are little, I ring the bell for them, and then open the door to go * outside to potty. When they get bigger, I take their paw and whack the bell and open the door to go potty. Eventually getting to the place where the puppy will ring the bell and let me know when they need to go potty. Dogs want to please you, so it is your job to let them know what behaviors please you and what doesn't. So when my puppy goes potty, I give her a treat *, and clap, and make a fuss and praise her. So she learns that going potty outside makes me happy. If she has an accident, make a disgust sound like "tsst" and take her out right away. I never yell * or spank * my puppies. Take them out when they first wake up, after they eat or drink, before nap, finish romping, when their activities change, or when they are sniffing around. Some puppies go pee right away, but may not go poop until 10 minutes later, so wait for the poop. I have a little play time here, because sometimes I think they are done , and they are not. Puppies train at their own pace. While I may have a puppy that hasn't had an accident in several weeks, I don't let my guard down. I don't expect my puppies to be " fully potty trained "until one-year-old. If they have a setback, shake it off, and start over. I only have my puppies in the crate when I am not watching them. When I am sleeping, cooking, ironing, doing chores, basically when I am not watching her. All other times, she is out of the crate practicing being a "big girl." This is the time I train her how to behave in the house. So we are practicing " no barking ", 'no biting", "no jumping", and "don't eat the furniture." I also have to practice "playing inside" so she doesn't knock over things. You must keep the puppy in sight when they are little because they don't know the difference between newspaper and carpet, and you don't want them sneaking off and getting into trouble. Some puppies can sleep through the night around 3-months-old, but their bladder is grown around 6-months-old.
