My dog has a terrible skin problem PLEASE HELP?

My dog is a little over a 1 year old .. he has been fighting this skin problem forever. Ive taken him to over 5 vets spent HUNDREDS for skin cultures, antiobiotics, shampoos, washes, topical ointments, changes of food. Ive tried everything from the crappy brands (alpo, publix pedigree to the high end foods which i prefer anyways including blue, wellness core, he is currently on merrick) .. he had weight issues so i put him on satin balls for pure weight gain as well as a complete home made meal consisting of meats, veggies and plenty of vitamins and essential nutrients. i am pretty knowledge on alot of things that comes to animals .. except this i cant fix him!! they have done like 10 cultures and say that is isnt fungus, its not mange or any other mite .. it isnt ringworms because he sleeps with me and has had this problem over a year and i nor any of my family members contracted anything from him .. and i dont think its allergies at least not to his food. and theres no other dogs in this house and ive changed his shampooo a million times ... i had him on simplicef for a little .. it HELPED intensely he looked like a complete different dog but as soon as he stops taking them he falls right back to where he is right now and i dont want to have him on anitibiotics very long due to decrease in his immune systems ability to fight back on its own as well as damage to liver/pancreas etc .. please if you can im posting these pics .. it looks alot worse in person i can describe his skin to look flakey .. with red spots under he is very sensitive to touch .. he twitches when i pet him .. his hair falls out alot. . i dont know what to do anymore .. as of right now he is eating merrick with addition adult dog vitamins, carrots and an egg mixed in .. plenty of water .. and bathed every 2-3 weeks or so as to not damage his skin anymore than it is. someone .. anyone please help me. (o and he is currently up to date with all his vaccinations) pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

PLEASE HELP ME TELL ME WHAT TO DO I DONT WANT HIM TO GET ANY WORSE
Now THAT's a posting. You've really done well by this dog, he's lucky to have you. Unfortunately, you've already done just about everything anyone here could help you with. He needs to go to a skin specialist, not a regular vet. I used to own a place where we leased space to Pacific Pet Skin & Allergy. Dr. Yamazaki specialized in skin conditions and has since 1980 . She saw a lot of this kind of thing. The fact that antibiotics made such a difference is a key indicator that this is probably not an allergy. I would highly recommend that you seek out a specialist. Call all the vets in your area and find out who they refer to. I sure wish I had solutions for you but I'm afraid this one is not anyone can help with remotely. Best of luck to you.

Skin problems are often the most intractable of things to deal with. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

First: boost his Vitamin E with 1/2 tsp/day on his food of cold-pressed Wheatgerm oil. You should notice a difference by this time next week. If gluten-intolerant, find quality fish oil instead.

Next get a high-tech shampoo from your vet. "Sebocalm" is a good one.

As the strong antibiotic worked it means that the skin barrier is somehow inadequate and so something like sebocalm that has tiny coating spherules really could help stop something like Staph aureus getting in there and irritating.

You mentioned weight issues. Have the vet do a series of Thyroid tests.

Good luck.
