He is an jack russell cross with an staffordshire bull terrier hes long legged medium sized. So strong
I've run out of options with him my mother hits him hard when he jumps up at people ... I find that cruel
He's not at all aggressive he's soppy dog its when he gets distracted by other dogs and kiddies in the park.
What is the opposite of a jumping dog? A sitting dog.
You need to teach him to sit when meeting someone new or to sit whenever he would rather jump. A strong sit command is the best way to stop a dog from jumping.
First of all don't hit a dog. They could bite. When he jumps on you take you knee and gentle push down and say no. Get a collor and when he does these you don't like just tug the collor gentle not hard and say no. Never be hard. Notice I said gentle . Keep on leash till he learns manners.
My late dog has the same problem before, You need to look for signals before he does this, a signal is when he looks at his next target, Distract him with a biscuit or a toy, and if he jumps spread your hands and say stop, this is a sign that you are in control of him. Have a nice day
Your dog needs obedience training before he hurts someone. He needs to not only learn not to jump on people but also to respect human commands. Start by looking in the phone book today. On Monday, call vets in your area and ask who they recommend and why.
If your dog is about to jump up give it the command to sit at the same time lift your nee so it jumps into the nee and repeat the command sit try that a few times see what happens, good luck
the i-clicker works with so many dogs you shud go buy a clicker i wudnt advise yu to use water or you can buy the pet correcter as yur dog had dog training? if that doesnt work then seek profesional help:
"We say down to him he ignores me,"
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com THAT is the real issue. The dog needs to be trained.
Teach the dog to SIT or DOWN, and STAY.
Problem solved.
Visitors need to come with a clicker or a small spray water bottle say down an spray or click at the same time gd look
I have a few effective ways of fixing this.
1 Push him down very strongly, not necessarily hitting it but shoving it and saying DOWN very strongly and every time it jumps repeat the action and word.
2 Whenever someone walks in (or you could just walk in the house) give him "the cold shoulder" turn away from him until he's not interested anymore.
3 Keep him a few feet away from the door stand in front of him with a dog treat, and make sure he's
looking at you, have someone else open the door and if he looks away or tries to go jump on your visitor have your visitor walk back out and put him in the same place and repeat until he doesn't try to go jump then give him the treat. If necessary make a loud noise to grab his attention.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Ok at the park if he goes for peoples cigarettes he's most likely getting treats at home for no reason, ONLY give him treats for good actions and tricks. You can practice this at home, sit in an area with something in your hand, if he goes for it push him away and say no, or re-direct him to a toy of some sort. That's like saying "no this is not for you, but this toy is."
Jumping on young kids is vary bad, i looked up some sights up for you for this last one.
