How do you stop a dog from digging to get out of the yard?
cut it's paws off --- POINTS FOR ME !
electric fence
Good question. Hope your fence is deep, and you can put medium size rocks or concrete block or RR ties on the outside of the fence.

My yard looks like a scene fromn WW!! with the holes my standard poodle digs. I tried putting poo on top of them, but that didn't help. My lab HATED poo, and wouldn't go near a filled in hole with that on top.
Supervise the dog while outside.
OR Line the bottom of your fence with logs.
OR Bury the fence a couple of feet into the ground at an inward angle.

If the dog just wants to dig, then give it a fenced-in (chicken wire) sandy area to dig and make "DIG" a command. If it wants to escape, you need to ID your dog well and supervise all the time.
The dog is likely bored and under-exercised. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Most dogs need a couple of walks and some vigorous exercise daily, human interaction, mental stimulation, and socialization to keep them busy.

A tired dog that's had its needs met will not likely try to get out.
Stop making him want to escape. Stone all around the edges, smelly stuff...? Not chicken wire but it's like that, bury it underground.
Dig a trench 12' - 18' deep along the bottom edge of the fence.
Place galvanized chin link material into the trench.
Tie the top of the chain link to the bottom of your existing fence.
Fill trench with dirt.
Dig an 8" trench under gates.
Fill the 8" trench with concrete.
Adjust gates to prevent openings wider than 1"
Is the dog neutered? If not - get it done. That goes a long way to stopping roaming.

Underground fence. This is just a wire that you bury about 6 inches under the ground, the dog wears a collar with a receiver on it that will beep when the dog gets to close and will give the dog a little shock when way to close. Most systems come with a training manual so you can train the dog really easy. This will move the holes he digs further into the yard but he will not be able to escape. Ok I am old, I think they are called invisible fences. Good Luck
Get a kid's pool, fill it up with sand, teach it the command "Dig" and he will eventually (after long sessions) know this as his digging spot. This will (hopefully) avoid the likelihood of digging your yard. Best of Luck! =)
This might sound mean but it works fill the hole up wit water and stick the dogs nose in it thats what my mom did to my black mouth cur and he has never did it again. Good luck
