This breaks my heart and really pisses me off to think about it. Why by a dog and leave him out in the backyard 24/7 without feeding it or bathing it or even letting him in when it's snowing outside. This saddens and angers me. How hard is it to give a dog these basic needs?

Most the time its people getting cute puppy's and then getting bored with them when they mature into adults. Its not hard at all to provide the necessity's but still people fail to do it. I actually BOUGHT a mutt dog from someone about 2 months ago. They live about 5 houses down from me and i passed this poor dog every day tied up to a tree with nothing more than a dog igloo. Not even a bowl of food. I was so frustrated when i passed one night, it was 30 degrees and the dog was outside that i stopped and offered them 100 dollars for the dog right then. They accepted, i had them do a small make shift contract and they didn't do so much as walk me outside to say good bye. The dog had run around the tree so many time he had about 3 feet of slack left and couldn't have even gotten into the house that night had i not gotten him. He now lives with my parents inside. The poor thing had just about every behavioral issue you could imagine from being left alone so long. I PRAY they never get a dog again.

Ignorance, the same reason they have kids and abuse them. In the narcissistic mind, they are right and the world is all wrong, they don't have a problem, you do. They are incapable of taking responsibility for their actions and behaviors, so in the narcissistic mind, they justify the abuse. Apparently for some people taking care of basic needs is beyond comprehension. Peace be with you.

They like the idea of a dog, get in way over their head and can't cope with the responsibility, and then one of two things happen:

1.) They feel bad and vow to start taking better care of the dog. They lack the emotional control to do this and/or are just too lazy and "will start tomorrow". They are more concerned with their TV shows, video games, nights out with friends, or whatever other petty excuse they can think of to justify being "too busy" to play with the dog today, or any day.

2.) More likely, it's a control thing. That is THEIR DOG by damn. Taking it to a shelter or rehoming it would mean admitting defeat. Making up an excuse like "moving and can't keep him" or "lost my job and can't feed him" would also mean admitting defeat and lying about it, a double blow to their pride. Defeated by a DOG of all things. They don't want to admit it and are more concerned with their own pride than the welfare of that poor dog.

Most of these people live in "this is all about me world". Their world is SO small they can't be bothered with anything outside of their own miserable lives. Here comes the poor dog...and like everything else in their miserable lives the poor dog suffers, It's a mental condition..I honestly believe that. I know the "TWINKIES DEFENSE" worked..but you see a dog is on a lower plane in this society. He's catching up..but has such a long way to go yet. Abuse,is abuse, is abuse!!!! I am not tolerant with these people at all...they are misfits in this life as far as I'm concerned...misfits who hurts other creatures.Their only redeeming quality is they are labeled as "HUMAN", so they get can away with a lot of their trash.

Because people are ignorant, cruel idiots that have no common sense. I would LOVE to chain those people up just like they do their dogs. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I don't understand people who have dogs and leave them outside. They are not necessarily abusing them but why have a dog just to leave it outside? I believe dogs are part of the family and should be treated so. Dogs are social animals....they need to be inside with their people!

i know, it really is sad, and it breaks my heart :(

some people like to get dogs just as guard dogs, and dont really do anything to care for them. it really is sad. some people buy them, then just forget about them, and dont let them come inside or anything.

Because people are soo cruel and dont understand that animals have lives to and wanna be happy just like us humans do. I feel the exact same way and even made a website about it. If you want to visit it I will put the like in the sources box below.
