I own two pitbull crosses and find either people love them or hate them
what do you love or hate about pitbulls and why?

I'm neutral.

Would I ever own one? Not likely- but it's not media influenced. For one thing, terriers (of any kind) aren't really my style, and I prefer a dog with longer hair.

For another thing, a well-bred APBT is both dog-aggressive and has a high prey drive (though not human-aggressive) and as I plan to have other dogs as well as cats (and possibly other animals) and don't want to deal with those qualities, I'll bow out and not own an APBT.

Kudos to those that do, however. I think in the right hands they can be fantastic dogs. And kudos to those who are working towards the right goals in improving the breed.

P.S. - I love my own pit bull's almost perfect obedience and docile personality.

Love: their loyalty, affection, and protective instincts.
Hate: their bad reputation.

I love their striking beauty, loyalty, and smartness. I hate only the byb's of this beautiful breed because they have no clue how to keep their bloodlines strong and settled, they only breed for dollars and they have created an entire line of unstable bloodlines simply out of greed.

I love how loyal they are to me and my family. I love how friendly they are to everyone we ever see. Mine love other dogs and cats (a cat is her best friend). My Sadie lets my 4 year old niece pull her ears, lay on her, 'dance' with her, adn plays fetch with her without ever complaining or even walking away. I HATE that 80% of the people who own them are idiots and never socialize them properly and thus give them the Media reputation they have. Im just glad to be part of a group of people who are working together with our APBT's to change the minds of others!

I'm the middle of the road. I'm just not interested in dealing with the massive amount of prey drive and extreme DA tendencies. They're super people friendly, but I just wouldn't personally want to deal with the other, less desirable qualities.

People who deny the breed's history and innate dog aggression bother me just as much as people who think they're baby killing monsters.

If only their population would go down, and they would just get out of the media for a while, the breed could have a chance at restoring a reputation as a sweet family dog needing experienced owners.

I just hate that they're vicious and that their inbred brains are designed to kill.

I like the breed! I dislike irresponsible owners. I saddens me to here another newscast about a pitbull biting. No one should own a pitbull that can't give it the proper care it needs. That goes for all breeds and pets! People just fear the breed because of the media hype.

Hate: A**hole owners who give the breed a bad reputation, the amount of pitbulls that are sitting in shelters because of those owners
