My dog has a cyst like lump on her belly!! Plz help!?
I just noticed this lump on my 6 month old puppy a few days ago. It has no hair on it and seems very hard. It is about the size of my pinky. It is located just below her ribcage and about an inch from one of her nipples. When i touch it it seems to itch, however it doesnt cause her any pain to touch it. I plan to take her to the vet friday when I get paid. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
I hate to say it but it coupd be cancer :( definetly get your puppy into the vets
Don't Panic!! I know this sounds crazy....but it may actually be her belly button. Yes, dogs have them. And they often times are not visible at all, or aren't visible until they are 4 to 6 months. Sounds crazy, I know. But I've had many puppies and some of them have had belly buttons and others have not. My German Shephard Drake for example. He has a hard lump on his belly just below his ribcage, its his belly button. I've already asked my Vet and confirmed that yes, its his belly button. He's almost 5 years old now, and is perfectly healthy. :) You can call your vet and ask what they think (save yourself the money) but that's likely what you're feeling.

Experience
Any number of things, starting with harmless fatty growth, cancerous tumor, vermin or parasite which has gotten under the skin, reaction to bug or other bite, infected mammary gland, umbilical hernia. I wouldn't rush to the vet necessarily, esp if it isn't bothering her but would definitely keep an eye on it.
