My Dog has recently cause bite trauma to someone What should i do?
The vet said it is the best thing to do is to put him down
My Rottweiler,Rocky is 4 years old and Is this suitable.
Could I Restrain him in my backyard?
Or Is he going to get put down?
Rots aren't normally bad dogs--was it a provoked attack? If it was NOT a provoked attack, you better think hard about what the vet said. If it WAS a provoked attack, then get your dog pen built, and put a "Beware of Dog" sign on it so you are protected legally.
Don't just ditch him in the yard. That's incredibly dangerous and irresponsible.

Try contacting a behaviorist and see if they can do anything. If you cannot afford one, please follow your vet's advice and do it with you at his side, before animal control makes the decision for you. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

ETA: Please don't just muzzle him and leave it at that. Please speak to a professional and address the problem itself rather than trying to treat the symptoms.
wow thats scary. I love dogs but if your dog bit someone that is not good at all, and may even attck you... I wouldnt put him down if i didnt have to.. but definitly do not bring him into social situations and if you have guests, you have to keep him caged.. rottweilers are very cute but DANGEROUS! that have bad tempers..goodluvk
If you do nothing he will probably be put down.
Hire a private trainer to work with you and the dog.
It depends on your local laws, as well as the temperament of the dog. If the dog was being harassed, or taunted by the person he bit, he shouldn't be put down. If he is aggressive and there is a chance he could bite again, he should be euthanized.
You know what. I just went through that on December 6 of last year. My red nose pit-bull bit someone. I wasn't aware of that until later that night that the lady came to my house to ask for my dogs paperwork. She said that all she wanted to know if my dog had gotten his rabies shots. So i showed her the paperwork. What was odd was that she never actually showed me the bite. She just said that it was pretty bad, it was bruised & stuff. But i didn't pressure her because my dog doesn't have his license. So what i did was to offer her a ride to the bus stop everyday that my mom work since it was in our right in our route. Later on as time went on she eventually got better. So my advice is for you to evaluate the condition. My pit had never bitten anyone, til this and i wasnt even shown the actual bite. So since she didnt take any charges against my dog ive kept him. Im now a lot more careful though i make sure he doesnt get out and that the gates are always locked. I dont believe its fair for dogs to be put down unfairly. Was he provoked? Or was he just guarding you or your house?
Hey hun, Is rocky a good dog to most people?

Does he try to bite everyone that comes around him? Does he attack other dogs and humans out of no reason at all? Ask yourself these questions, if they dog is cuasing harm to babies, people, and other animals, and is a out of control dog I would suggest getting some training and teaching him some manners if he cant be tought manners because of his behavior already then unfurtently maybe he does? I Dont think its fair for dogs to be put down, i think its more the owners because they should have tought thier dog from the get go manners and have the dog be a social one. (Im not blaming you but its really not the dogs fualt he is the way he is...)

But if your dog is like my dog ill give you a lil story on it:
I have a pitbull/lab. He is around 5-6 years old now, but a couple years ago my littel sister was playing in our backyard with a nieghbor kid, the kid was chasing my sister because they were playing, however my dog didnt know that he though the boy was chasing my 7 year old sister -she was 5- because he thought he was going to hurt her. So he bit the boy on the leg and but, and left imprints and marks. The boys mom freaked out and started telling us that she was going to press charges and get our dog put down, and of course we werent going to have that! We know our dog is a good dog at heart and only trying to protect his family, he never acted that way befor he doesnt bit people out of spite, he is a good boy! So we explaned this to the cops and all. And they came over and saw brutus my dog and they saw how friendly he was so they said that he had to go to Coreneten. (i dont know how to spell that word.)

But what it was is that he had to leave for 2 weeks its like jail for dogs, and he was kept in a place where people monitor him and examin his behavior. I can say that after the 2 weeks were up and we went to go get him all the ladies who worked thier said that he was a great dog and they were going to miss him:) I think Brutus thought that we were giving him up because he was shedding like CRAZY! and he was soo happy to see us! I think he knew what he does was wrong, and thought we were giving him away because of it. But I stand by my dogs, and know they are great dogs, because they were only trying to defend thier family and thats what dogs do.
