Long-lasting Safe Dog Chews?
I am looking for some safe and long-lasting dog chews. I gave my 50 lb puppy a raw beef bone, and she was able to eat it in around 5 minutes.
I gave her some beef tendon from the pet store, and she ate that really quickly and it kind of splintered.
Are there safe, real animal chews that are long lasting and safe? How about those bully sticks? I have also seen what seem to be cow trachea at the pet store. How are those?
What about those nylabones? I looked at the ingredients and it didn't seem healthy at all. I have give her the rawhide chewies, but those seem like they could be a choking hazard.
Kong! They have guaruntee that if your dog destroys it within a year you send it to them with the reciet and they'll send you a new one free!

I work at petco!
Have you tried Bully sticks or cow tails? As the above person suggested, a Kong. It will keep your dog busy for hours!

A 6 inch bully stick lasts my dachshund about 4-5 days. He is an aggressive chewer. You can also try antlers. They last longer than bully sticks. This website sells them

http://www.bestbullysticks.com/Avoid rawhides. They can cause problems like blockages. I would also avoid rawhides. They are not safe to eat and I dont understand why they would make a chew toy that is not safe to eat.
You could try an extra-giant Kong. They are quite expensive but do last well, like couple of years. My dog loves his. He is on his 3rd. You can put biscuits inside and it will keep him busy for hours sometimes. His teeth are quite white too.
Over decades I have stopped using rawhide chews as they can clog up the intestines. Likewise real bones, if the dog is a real chewer, can cause awful constipation. I once had to take a previous dog (shepherd cross) to the vet as he couldn't poop and it was all compacted like cement. Nylabones last quite well actually but they don't come very big. They do become rough and jagged but the dog doesn't seem to mind, it probably gives his teeth a good scratching! But I haven't used those for years.
If you get a Bully Stick, spend the extra few $$ to get a LONG one. My hound just swallows the short ones - which made me very nervous until she pooped it out the next day! But all in all, she loves Bullies and a long one lasts days and days for her.

If you have a powerful dog, I'd suggest synthetic chews stuffed with peanut butter. They'll last a very long time for sure.
There's also a smoked bone product where I live called "The Tank" which is the knee end of a cow's femur. They're huge and last forever as well.
Make sure to supervise you dog with bones and be sure he's not chewing them in a way that makes them splinter or simply eating huge chunks of bone. These can cause serious issues.
Antlers or cow hooves or a large beef shank bone.
Don’t worry, the antlers are naturally shed, so no animals are harmed to collect them. Here are some of the great benefits of antler dog chews
Long lasting and durable
Safe – antlers do not splinter
Odor free
The natural marrow in the middle provides calcium and minerals
Clean, oil-free, leaves no residue on floor or furniture
No chemicals or preservatives
