Is this enough to feed my dog? And how much do you feed yours?
I feed my dog 3 times a day and measure with a 180ml cup. (rice measuring cup). She weighs 80lbs (healthy weight would be 65-70lbs).
Lately to try to help her lose some weight and get her on a proper eating schedule I've been feeding her beneful as so.
1 cup in the morning
1 cup early afternoon
2 cups late afternoon
I also feed her one egg a week, not that it makes much difference.
I just want to try to get some insight on how much you feed your dogs...until now I've just been scooping and not paying attention. When I was doing that she had food sitting because she didn't want it. But now she wolfs it all down as soon as I tell her to get it.
I think it's probably been about a week and a half since I started feeding her in the current amounts and I haven't noticed anything drastic.
answer: My 60 pound Labrador pup eats about 4 cups a day. So long as your dog's ribs and back bone do not show, the dog is in good weight.
Have a GSD not quite two years. He is fed Acana Wild Prairie dry food, contains no grain. Gets 2cups am and 1 cup pm (250ml per cup.) like you am watching his weight. He also does not get treats other than ice cubes, non fattening and he likes to play with them. Like us it takes awhile to take off the extra pounds so give it a little more time. Another couple weeks go have her weighed. Good luck
This may not help but my dog is a corgi-sheltie and has only two cups a day. That usually works best. However my dog weighs only 30 lbs. I give him 1 cup. I think if you gave your dog 2 or 2.5 twice a day that would probably work. I hope I helped
Keep kibble out at all times. Free feeding is the best. The dog will eat when it is hungry. A hungry dog is a grumpy dog...remember that!
woe woe woe thats 2 much food try cutting her back on only 1c 3 x's a day hope i helped
