How to train my dogs to pee where i want them to? HELP!?
Okay so i have 2 13 (or 16)mth old poodles. Jet black and both males. They weigh about 2.5kgs and they are bothers. i do not know their exact age because we saved them from the pound and they didn't come with a certificate thingo! anyway, they are well behaved dogs but recently they have begun to poo and pee on our carpet downstairs. My sister and i have to "pee" the 3 times a day. This usually involves a short stroll around our street until they pee. We live in an awkward spot with no backyard or grass for them to pee in, hence us "peeing" them 3 times a day. My mum bought home a small layer of grass/turf that we put outside and this is where we want them to pee. we have had this thre for a good 2 weeks and only today diid 1 of the dogs pee on it. when it was time for the 3rd "pee" of the day, i took them to the grass but they did not pee, so i took them on a walk, and whaddya no? THEY PEED! i really need help! i have tried putting their poop on it but that does nothing! help help help! also ANY other dog training tips would be highly appreciated as they are not well trained dogs!

Purchase a crate and keep them in it when you cannot watch them and when you are away and at night. Do not use it for punishment, but as asafe place. Line it with blankets and place a small bowl of food and water in it. They will not (by nature) urinate or poo where they sleep/eat. Each time you take them out-and it should be about 6-8 times a day at this age-take them directly to the spot that you want them to use and praise them when they do. Use easy terms like-GO PEE PEE!! It works,I promise. Also as soon as they start to have an accident inside-do not EVER beat them..pick them up immediately with a stern-NO_OUTSIDE!! ANd take them to the place you want them to go. Make sure they go out after eating and drinking, after exercise, and before bed, first thing in the morning also. Crate training saved us-we have 2 100 lb Rotties that live inside-they would NEVER go inside now. THey will start letting you know when they have to go by going to the door or coming to you an whining-watch for it. Also basic commands should be taught-sit, stay, lie down, no..etc. Talk to them like people-slowly and clearly. ALways praise good behavior and discourage bad behavior-by redirecting them, never hit your dog and make sure that you are teaching them or giving them an option or another outlet for their energy-plenty of exercise, etc. And remember-NEVER use the crate for punishment-it should always be a ssafe place. Ours still sleep in theirs ad the oldest is 8-we do not lock it, but he goes in and out because he wants to, it is his safe haven and quiet place. Good luck.
