How to train a dog??????
My dog is one year old and a few months. She is half smooth collie and half chihuahua. She is very hyper, sometimes speeding around in circles and jumps on me and bites everywhere (she only does that to me and I am her owner). I got her too early because she was only 2 months old. Is it too late to still be able to train her? I tried training her when she was younger but obviously, that didn't go too well. How do I calm her down? She lives outside, tied to her dog house and gets a walk almost everyday.
try finding a treat she loves, i personally use hot dogs cut up into pieces. if she jumps, tell her NO, be demanding to her so she knows the tone when ur serious, if she doesnt know to sit, put her butt down and keep repeating sit till she does it, (not agressively) when she does, give her treat, when she jumps, demand her no and when she gets off, give her treat, practice make perfection. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
she is excited to see u, since she is an outside dog she isnt getting 100% attention, and gets lonly. make sure she knows ur the master of her, not the other way around.
hope this helped. if not i would try training tips online, worked tremendously with mine, he crawls like an army dude now. once they know if they do good, treat, then they will be more prone to listen. i would hurry with how old she is though. she may already formed habits, that become hard to brake.
Smooth Collie and Chihuahua.... very unlikely. She need proper exercise, at least 2 hours a day plus 3-4 days out of the week to go to the dog park. Read the link below. She can be trained but it will be harder than if she was still a puppy. She's set in her ways and you're gonna have to be patient when training her.
ADD: Didn't read the part where she's outside all the time, she's starving for your attention and you just leave her outside. I'd act like that too! She needs to be in the house with you unless she's going to the bathroom or getting exercise. Dog's are social animals and don't like to be left alone.

the living tied to the doghouse and the getting walked ALMOST everyday is most likely the problem. the two breeds you say your dog is a mix of are very active collies especially need lots of exercise not just one short slow paced walk. they need to be walked consistently at least 45mins or more every day not almost everyday. both breeds are very smart too especially the collie. they need to be stimulated a fun game maybe hide a toy and have them find it and trick/obedience training. collies are a working breed they need a job to do not to sit out tied to a dog house and hoping that they might actually get to go on one walk

She is probably acting hyper because she is tied up during the day. If possible fence off your yard or at least an area that she can spend the day in not tied up. Also if you can make a play area for her when she is outside giver her some toys to stimulate her, this should help reduce the hyperactivity. Best way to train her is on the lead so that you already have some control. You can either use food, or praise for rewards. When training only say commands once or twice and make sure she knows when she has done the command correctly. I assume she knows her name and is responsive to it. If so teach her how to sit, by holding a treat just above her nose and as you say 'sit' move it up and back slightly which should cause her to sit, if not gently push on her back until she is in the sitting position. then reward her. the key is repetition, a little bit each day. Once she can sit on command, teach her to stay. Get her to sit, place you hand in front of her face and say 'stay', then step in front of her, stand there for a few seconds, return to her side, say 'release' and praise her. Gradually increase the time and distance between the two of you. If she moves before you say release, just get her to sit and stay again. Before you pay attention to her get her to sit for you, also when you walk her get her to sit whenever you come to a road, and if possible try to get her to walk by your left heel, the command is 'heel'. If she bites you put her tell her 'no' and if she ignores you put her outside. The key to dog training is persistence and make sure she knows when she has pleased you.
