How ling do you predict my Yorkshire terrier will live to be? ?
Her name is chrissy, and she weighs 2 and 1/2 to 3 pounds. She has a horrible skin allergy and she scratches herself raw, she is an inbreed. She has to wear a cone and she still trys to scratch herself. She has badly any hair on her body and I have to put organic clothing on her. I wash her with a special body soap expesually for her allergies. I give her a bath every other day because the vet told me to. I also give her Benadryl. If you need anymore information, please don't hesitate to ask.
answer: I'm sorry, I know you must be doing everything you can for her, but it sounds like she should be put to sleep. Euthanasia is of course a painless procedure, and allows animals with suffering conditions to rest in peace. It's even more heartbreaking that she is inbred, but if this the reason for her skin allergy, her life seems very miserable and unnatural. I do not mean to put you down, on the contrary, I cheer for your attempt in making her happy and comfortable. But she is a dog after all, and she is not living the life of a dog at the moment. I think she would be much better off not having to continue living in her condition, no matter what age she is now.

Please at least give it some serious consideration, remember her well being, and if you decide to selflessly let her go, you are a great person.
It's hard to say based on this information. Being inbred doesn't always result in health problems, it just means that if there were recessive genetic disorders in her pedigree there's a greater likelihood that she would develop them. As for her skin issue, that really affects quality of life more than length of life, though it's possible the stress of her condition could take a toll on her overall health as well.
Do you know what's causing the skin allergies? Have you tried a chance of diet or different flea preventatives? I know that many terrier breeds can have bad food allergies and they often really benefit from a switch to a grain-free/novel protein food or a raw diet.
