How do i stop my dog from biting and chomping?
He is a very lazy dog, but he always licks the face, but when is close to the ears and nose he starts biting and chomping. And when i hand him a treat he chomps at my hand. Every time, He always does this, I hold him down, saying No Bite or flip him on his back, growling. And once in a while i give him a good smack. But He just keep on doing it. The dog is a Labrador and 3 months old, and a male. Is there any hope? And he is always hungry, so i limit his food, so he isnt always expecting alot.
I mean this is becoming a big problem. Im going to have to put a beat down on him because he cuts me so much with his teeth.
answer: Sound like your puppy isn't very respectful, first off. Also some dogs don't care if you're mean to them as long as you give them some kind of attention. How does he get in your face like that to begin with? Is he on the couch/chair with you? If so then first off if he starts doing that then make him get off the couch/chair. If he's a unruly dog then of coarse he'll try to get back up there. Just keep him from getting back on the couch/chair. You don't have to do it in a rude way just watch him and don't let him back up there. Like you are claiming the couch/chair to yourself. Other things you can do that puppies do is he nips you just yelp loudly then ignore him. Yes it seems silly but it works and he will know that it hurt you and you dont like it. And some dog breeds if you hit them it just rallies them up more so it's pointless. Also it is mean. Would you want someone hitting you when you just wanted attention. Also you could exercise him. It could be built up energy he has and is wanting to play. Just remember claim the couch/chair and when he bites you yelp and then ignore him. Best way to ignore is to turn you back to them. And they will attempt to try to look at you and just keep turning your back to him until he is calmed down.
