Has your dog(s) ever experienced a natural diaster? answer:
Not any kind of major crisis situation, no...but my now-deceased Boxer weathered a couple Florida hurricanes & evacuations with us. When I was in high school we lived on the coast of Florida near Pensacola for a couple years. One evacuation we traveled with my grandparents....and we learned that old people like to go REALLY far away when they evacuate. We ended up in the north-middle of Alabama in a hotel, and ALL the other evacuees that far north were also old, retired people. Even that far out we still got a pretty nasty pounding from the storm, lost power, etc.

I'd taken the dog for a "last walk" after the storm made landfall. After that it was too dangerous to go outside for a solid 20 hours. My parents insisted that the dog had to be IN her crate during the storm. I started feeling really sorry for her after about 10 hours. We thought for SURE she would at least pee in her crate. But not at all. She held it like a champ, didn't even whine....then p*ssed like a racehorse & made a massive poop when we were finally able to go outside. That dog always had an iron-clad bladder until the day she died (not that we ever made a habit of crating her for 20 hours)...she lived to be 14 and never once had an accident inside after she was housebroken :) pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Other than that, a couple of hailstorms, massive blizzards (we're very rural too), a tornado.....but we've never had major damage or anything. Nothing life threatening, thankfully. :)
My little dog Dute survived through a big flood in Ohio. he was the only dog out there swimmin' to safety.
Nothing like the tsunami that Australia is dealing with now.
