This is really long. So if you could just skim it, that would be great!
I have four dogs. And we switched their food, and I must have switched them all too fast because they all got digestive upset. We fasted them for 48 hours. And started feeding them again. About a week later they all got sick again. Fasted for 48 hours and fed them hamburger and rice for about a week then back on to their dog food. They have been fully switched over and have had no problems since. However, they all lost about 1 pound.
They have since all gained back about 1/2 pound.
My Shihtzu weighed about 13 1/2 pounds before she got sick, and she lost 1 pound. I weighed her about a week ago and she hadn't yet gained any weight back. Then I weighed her tonight and she only weighs 11 pounds. She has been getting the full amount of dog food she is supposed to have. And is not vomiting or having diarrhea.

I have not seen any worms in her stools or vomit when they were ill from the food change.
She does not have any symtoms of Diabetes.
We switched from for Wellness Super5mix Chicken to Taste of the Wild Bison and Venison Formula.
In August or September she had a full physical exam and everything was fine and the vet said she was in excellent health.
She's acting 110% ok! Extremely active and just as playful and hyper as ever! NOT lethargic at all.
I have NOT noticed any weird behaviors or symtoms.
She is eating and drinking just fine. Stools look fine, no worms, no vomiting. And again she doesn't have any Symtoms of Diabetes.
And AGAIN all of my four dogs got ill from switching foods, however they are all fine now.
That means that she has lost 2 1/2 pounds in only three weeks. I asked my parents if she looked any thinner than usual and they said no. (I didn't tell them about the weight loss.)
I was wondering if it could be due to stress.
Or that my scale has a problem. I am using a human scale and holding her and then subtracting my weight.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I have noticed problems with the scales before. I weighed my self one time and weighed myself about 4 days later and had lost four pounds maintaining my normal diet. I am fine. And my weight is changing constantly on these scales.
Again, she just got a clean bill of health a few months ago. Acting ok, eating, drinking. She has a very soft, shiny coat. And doesn't have any flakes, it doesn't look oily and she smells good. Her teeth and mouth look good. Her eyes are bright and clear, her temp is normal. And have NOT noticed any strange lumps or things on her body. And again she doesn't look like she has lost any weight. Nobody thinks she looks or feels thinner than usual. And wouldn't almost 3 pounds be obvious on a small dog?
Just wondering if you guys thought I should take her to the Vet. Or it's my scales.
And any ideas on what could be causing this?

Gave her and all my other dogs Pepto Bismol, correct dosage for her weight, if that matter at all.

I don't know about the calories. But Taste of the Wild is grain free. And you are supposed to feed less food with grain free. The employee that sold me the food told me to feed them less.
I have been feeding her EXTRA with this food to try and gain her weight back.
I have been feeding the rest of my dogs the same amount of food as on Wellness, to try and get them to gain there weight back. ( Which they have gained some back.)
Interesting, about the position on the scales, because when I weighed her and noticed that she weighed 12.5. I weighted her a few more times and she maintained that weight. Then when I weighed her tonight and said she weighed 11 pounds. It was in a different position tonight then it was all the other nights.

ADD: You can feel her back bone a *tiny* bit more than usual. But I have not noticed her hips. ribs. or back bone protruding any more. She also looks the same. And feels the same when you pick her up.
Its hard to be sure the right dog gets the right food as there is usuallu one greedy one and a slow one whose bowl gets finished by the greedy dog. I suppose you have this all sorted, so can only suggest you wait a while and see. The dog might be the correct weight if it is playing happily. In that case, the weight will NOW stay the same. A 2/3week wait to see how the dog's weight is going will not make the dog die or be sick.
