At a shelter, what are the first dogs you walk up to: quiet, jumping, barking, etc?
The dogs that quietly sit in the corner, the dogs that politely stand there looking, or the dogs jumping around, or others?
I'm not sure if someone will answer
your question with the info
you are letting us know. You should
explain a little more so that people can help with more
confidence. Just a thought! :-)

Well typically all of them,I look at all there personalities and it doesn't discourage me in the least bit if there acting a little wild or misbehaved. They all deserve homes either way:)

You can't help but notice the dogs that are jumping and barking. But I saw a dog that was just sitting in the corner and his cellmates were all jumping and barking. I adopted the quiet one in the corner and he turned out to be one of the best dogs I have ever owned! (Blaze - my Chow)

Most people go for the ones that are jumping around and all hyper because they think they're cute , so they get homes easier because they want to be noticed pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

But because I know that , I go for the shy ones , bring them out of their shells , then they end up being so happy and hyper too

The shelter is a horrible place for any animal to stay , caged up , no comfort or love

I wanted an elderly dog because people always buy the puppies , but this one puppy looked me in the eye and kinda got into me somehow , grabbed onto my heart and wouldnt let go (not physically haha) , her gorgeous chocolate eyes , I tried so hard to look for another dog , but I couldn't focus , she wasn't exactly shy , but she wasn't jumping around either , she got so exited everytime someone walked past and when they snobbed her , her heart dropped and she looked so sad , it broke my heart , so I stopped looking and took her home , now shes the most annoying dog EVER !! But I love her with my whole heart , shes so beautiful
any of them.
any of them deserve a second change
barking and jumpy ones might be really craving human affection really bad.

same with the quiet ones.

i would never choose by the way they act in the cage when u first see them.
id want to hangout with whatever breed or type i was interested in to get to kno them.
whether they were jumpy or quiet.
any of them
i naturally notice the ones that are barking and jumping, but i actually go to the ones who are quiet and still throughout all the mess. that kind of gives me an opinion on how they act during all of the other barking and excitement. we did this with our first pup, and he is a loving, mellow pup. he's hyper and active when the time and place calls for it, but other than that he's loving and nice. however, all the dogs at our shelters are adoptable, it's just that when you get them to their new home, you will really see what the dog is like. ex: aggressive, mellow, dominant, playful, lazy, etc.
To me,its all about personallity...the one in corner could be the best/nicest dog ever but you wouldnt know it?! you have to get in side of the pin and give attention to all of them....the jumping one could be completey differnt when you get inside..because maybe hes just excited?!

(but if im staying out side the pin) I notice the one standing upp..wagging his tail, the one in the middle basically...because they are caught in the middle..there happy but shy,and they usually have great mannors, but not to prevent anyone from adopting the other jumping or silent dogs..I'd say give them all a few minutes of attention because you cant just find the right dog in 5 mins,BUT are great dogs all in all.....you have to look at them all...and they all honestly do deserve homes...because there all a great a dog' in there own wasy.
I like to take a look at about all of them! the first one would be um... jumping barking! as their hard not to notice but quiet ones are soo cute too! um... depends on the breed!
It's safe to go up to any of them as long as you don't try to reach into the kennel or anything.
People usually try to pick a dog that is calm thinking less work, Sometimes though those are the dogs that can be agressive and skidish. Me I would look for one that is a little lively maybe? I know that the ones that have been abused before will be shy and stay in the back afrid confrontation so I would take whatever dog and ask to see them seperate from the other dogs, then I would go and spend a little time in this private room with me and the worker and the dog and see how the dog responds to me, are they agressive, are they healthy playful alert etc. Then I would decide.
