My 10 month old Chihuahua is so nice to me, my mom, my older sister, and my best friend. However, she is still iffy about my younger sister and women but she absolutely HATES men! She will growl and snarl and bark! I try to socialize her but I don't want her to end up scaring people and biting them! I haven't had her since she was a puppy and the women who owned her before had two grandsons who tormented her so I think that must have something to do with it. How can I socialize her with a peace of mind so that she wont be mean and aggressive??? Also, I need help learning how to teach her to lay down. No matter what I try she just won ' t do it!!!: (
you have to get her out and let people pet her.
go to pet store and let people talk to you. let them calmly reach toward her and let her sniff. talk to her tell her they are ok. maybe let them give her a treat. might just let people talk to her without touching for awhile until she settles down.
let her ride in the cart and she if she goes to them while talking

This is fear based in an unsocialized dog. You need to socialize her better.
I'm no expert here nor have I ever had to help some one with this but I watch alot of "Its Me or the Dog" on Animal Planet. Are there any men who live with you or any men that come around alot? If so, you could try putting them in charge of feeding the dog, letting her in and out, and he might also engage in positive reinforcement training with the dog. If there aren't any men living with you or none that come around almost all the time, you could try having them give her treats when they come over.
***** Do training exercises with her .******
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Every time you have male company come over, have treats ready to distract her. Tell him to knock on the door or ring the doorbell and have your mom, sister, best friend, who ever go answer the door and let him in. While they are doing that, you should say her name and distract her as he's coming in. (You can have another person with you to help distract her.) When he starts to come in, if she growls, barks, etc, tell her no in a stern voice & have him go back outside and do it all over again. If he comes in and she doesn't show any negative behavior, give her a treat. (It can be her favorite toy, a dog treat, etc. ) Keep doing that until she doesn't show any negative behavior.
If you want a professional's help, go to the following the website and ask for it. The following link is to contact Victoria Stilwell, the lady who stars in Its Me or the Dog. Feel free to ask her your question as I'm sure she will be able to help you out alot better than I can since she is a professional.
That is something that the dog will always remember BUT with proper training can come to terms when dealing with men .. The man has to feed , walk, play and basically do everything to win the attention and make the dog comfortable.Hand baby carrots as treats and rewards, the voice he uses is very important and should be a happy one .. The tone of a man can scare a dog so he needs to lower the tone, sit on the floor and play with her and basically win her over .. It takes to time but as I said it will never be 100% but manageble .. Good Luck
