A friend of mind called me last night crying because their pet dog, a Great Pyrenese, had bitten her son. They had been having issues with the dog being dominant, and even had a dog specialist come in about a week ago. She had said the guy said the dog just needs to be shown wher in the pecking order it belongs, as well as tips to achieve this. The original reason they called for help was because the dog won't allow ANYONE in their house. She isn't friendly with anyone who doesn't live there, including me and I visit very often. I've even tried bribing her with treats. Nothing works. She even threatend biting my friend before, which was the final straw that lead them to getting outside help. The problem is that her husband still seems to think that with time they could probably teach the dog to be obedient because of what the specialist said. He thinks they need a little more time to see if there will be an improvement. But I STRONGLY disagrre. The dg bit their little boy, right in the face. I don't think the dog is safe to have around. Please, anyone with anyreal understanding of dogs PLEASE give me sound advice as to what I may say to convince hime the dog shouldn't EVER be trusted anymore. And please don't just state the obvious, he already knows someone, his son, was bitten. I mean, will she ever be a trust worthy dog at this point?
NEVER should u leave ad og big or small with a child anyway???

As it is very dangerous as anythink could happen i know from experance it is not the dogs falt more to do with a careless owner sorry but it is true ...
People forget that pyrenees are guard dogs. They are bred to guard sheep and goats from predators like wolves and mountain lions. They also forget that that little ball of fur is going to grow up into a dog that will be stronger and will out weigh many people. Most likely, since this dog is a pet, it isn't getting enough exercise which can easily increase the protectiveness of the breed. Right now that dog and the child MUST BE KEPT SEPARATE AT ALL TIMES. I still wouldn't trust this dog around strangers or children at all no matter how good this dog seems like it is rehabilitated. I know that if this were my dog it would have a one way trip to the vet. There are just too many nice dogs out there looking for homes to have one that bites children in the face.
Please tell your friend to take his/her dog to a vet and get the dogs vaccinations done. this ensures that it does not become rabid.

next, if he/she really wants to keep that dog, tell him/her to take it to dog training experts like pedigree.
if he does not want to do any of the above steps, then, ask him to disown the dog and make it a street dog or send it to the city kennel.
this might be the best advice you would get from a guy who has get experience with 2 rabid dogs and 5 others
