Ive had a vet say she is part Shiba inu but she is too big for one in my opinion. Other people say she is part german shepherd. She is a medium size dog, chase's small animals, independent, spotted purple tongue, thick coat, energetic, smart and protective.

My first thought was part sher pei. Her head and body shapes remind me of one. She also seems to have some wrinkling going on above her eyes.

Otherwise, I would say a mixture of german shepherd, and/or akita. I would not think of shiba inu because of her massive size.

actually the curled tail and her size (since she is a mixed breed size will vary) .. and in the first two pictures her face/ears look very much like a Shiba Inu, the way she stands is very box like which reminds me of a Cattle Dog (which i am doubting) but the way she stands reminds me of one ..
otherwise, she could be mixed with something else, but in the first two pictures i do see some Shiba Inu, but with mixed breeds sometimes we could all be wrong .. but she looks to be a wonderful dog regardless.
I am going with Akita/Lab & maybe some husky thats a toss up, I do not see any Shepherd my self but thats just my opinion. The only think that might be shepherd is the coloring but that could easily be from an Akita. The shape & tail scream Akita. Then I see some Lab in the face.

Also any breed can have blue/black tongues.

I would say it is a german shepherd and chow mix. The akita and husky are in the spitz family along with the chow. But the coloration and the build of the dog suggests a chow mixed with shepherd is most likely.
Goodness the breed that most sticks out in my mind is Akita, just with the facial features and such.

I am always thinking maybe part Malmute, or Chow-Chow, possibly shepherd mix.
Pretty dog! I see Shiba Inu and German Shepherd. Maybe Akita and GSD. Lovely mix though.

What does her tail look like? If it's curled up then she definitely part Spitz.
She definitely looks part German Shepard and based on her personality I would say she acts like one too.
I'm going to say a Chow Chow mixed with a German Shepherd, hence the purple tounge.
