She is barely going to be 2 months and her ear on outside is white with a bit of lemony color which is natural ... inside its pink but as its nearing the outside its a little light khaki color/brown is this normal.?? The thing is she is AKC registered pure breed and has her papers
It's allowable to have a creamy, lemony, very light tan color, but some dogs end up having it a little darker or in a bigger spot. Are you going to be showing the dog? As a pet this is completely fine, it wouldn't matter if the Maltese was completely brown, but as a show dog you could get points off and if it darkens more maybe even disqualified. A lab that I show, a black *****, has wonderful movement and stacking, but she has these odd brownish highlights on her legs that she gets points off for sometimes but it isn't anything you can control; we just have to try to breed her to a stud with good coat and hope the pups have good coats from him.
Light tan or yellow on the ears is permissable but not desirable according to the breed standard.
