We recently got a new foster dog and he won't stop barking! He is obsessed over food, keeps jumping up on tables, and just won't stop barking!!! I already tried giving him some dog toys but it didn't help! Please somebody help me !!!!!!!
It sounds as if the dog is totally out of control.
If you are feeding quality food twice a day the dog is not hungry.
Enroll in a positive reinforcement obedience class.
Work on basic commands such as sit and down until the class begins. This will also reinforce your roll as the leader.
Push the chairs up close to the table or pull they chairs away so he can't get on the table.
A tired dog is a happy dog. Get outside and play until the dog is tired. Go on long walks to give him something to be interested in and to get him tired.
Crate train.
It is so hard to want to help dogs by fostering them and then finding out how hard it can be. You don't say how long you've had him, what breed, age or how large, so it's hard to give you advice. I've fostered many dogs and sometimes the thing that probably got them abandoned (poor behavior, constant barking) takes a long time to work out. If you do not have the patience and the time to spend with the dog, training and exercising, maybe you should return him so some one else who can better handle him foster him. Fostering dogs is not easy and it is not for every one. It's not enough to love dogs and want to help. You have to have time, patience and training knowledge to make it work.
Find thesource of what he is barking at and correct him either yelling noor making a loud noise to make him stop. I would keep a leash on him for a day or so that way you can correct him and have a direct connection to him in order to make him stop.
He needs a lot more exercise and needs obedience training to help with his manners and keep his mind stimulated. Research positive reinforcement training methods and see if the rescue you're working with is willing to pay for training. The first step is more exercise, though.
A good thing to stop barking is to completely ignore the dog and when they shut up, praise them. For the bad behavior, try exercise to mellow him out then try to train him or correct him if he is still doing it.
