What do you want to ask about dogs? What to feed him?

adopted dog .. don't know age .. seems to only want to eat table scraps ... how do i get him to eat dog food ... he's a small terrier about 15 lbs or less
Take him to the vet to rule out any health issues. A healthy dog will not allow itself to starve when there is a viable food option. He might hold out for a few days, but eventually he will eat.

Look for a high quality kibble with meat as the first ingredient and no corn, wheat, or soy. You can also look into Raw feeding if you have the time to dedicate to acquiring the appropriate foods and researching on how to do it right.

Good luck with your new dog.
Get a small bag of the food he was eating before, and then slowly transition him to the food you plan on feeding him (go about a week using ratios of 20% new/80% old , 40% N/60% O/60% N/40% O, 80% N/20% O, and then finally all new food). You should be feeding him a premium/ultra-premium food such as Blue Buffalo/Wilderness, Innova/Evo, Taste of the Wild, Acana, Orijen, Wellness/Core, Solid Gold, Merrick, Fromm ...

Feed him two meals per day. For each meal, put down the food and leave it alone for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove the food. If the dog hasn't touched it, that's okay. The dog won't starve or anything; making the food available for short amounts of time twice a day will help the dog learn that it has two chances each day to eat, and it'll get the picture. Just persevere, and don't offer any table scraps or extra treats for the time being so the dog knows that the only option for food is during meal times.
Here's a system that normally works ..

5 Day period at least.

Day 1: 100% Table Scraps in Bowl

Day 2: 75% Table scraps, 25% Kibble in Bowl

Day 3: 50% Table scraps, 50% Kibble in Bowl

Day 4: 25% Table scraps, 75% Kibble in Bowl

Day 5: 100% Kibble in Bowl

Offer her kibble everyday until he has to eat. He'll eat eventually.
Stop feeding table scraps and keep offering him kibble. After a couple of days, he WILL eat .... guaranteed! No dog as ever starved themselves to death waiting for table scraps!
try a differetn kind of food worked with my neighbors dog that was actualy a terrier too
Mix some chopped up chicken and rice in his dog food .... slowly decrease ..
