Well, I found out my dog picked up some fleas from another dog when I took him to the local dogpark. Unfortunately he has tapeworms now from eating a flea. I have only dealt with tapeworms once before on my previous dog that passed away. That was 2 + years ago and I got the dewormer pill from a vet. I got some durvet today. i didn't know exactly how much he weighed so I guestimated at around 45 pounds and they only gave me 1 pill. Well, I took him to the vet to get him weighed and he weighs 66 pounds so it says he needs 2. I am going to get another pill for him in the morning but do you think 1 would do anything for him? This is just out of curiosity because I'm anxious to get rid of these worms.
There's no home remedy for tape worms, Katie.
While the single pill won't do as much as needed, it's better than nothing, and will help somewhat.
BUT
Worming is a 3 day treatment for many of the deworming medicines.
You didn't give the full name of the medicine by Durvet, so I can't tell you more as I can't locate the exact medicine at their website with this sparse information. -! -
Usually the vet would weigh them before giving you the pills, Pet stores have pills with the same ingrediends that will take care of the tapeworms. The ingredient pariquantel, and that's just off the top of my head, so the spelling is probably way off. Worm X is a wormer that gets rid of 3 types of worms, and multiple strains of each kind. I would wait until you can give the recommended dose though no matter what route you go.
