Dog health question? Please answer?

Hi all ... I am very worried

I am watching my neighbors dog for the week and my responsibilites are to go over to her house a couple of times a day to spend time with it, feed it, etc.

I have been watching it for 4 days now and whenever I let it outside, he always runs out with his tail wagging.

But I just went (It was 11:30 pm my time) to go over, and the dog was sleeping, woke up to my shutting the door. I went to greet him, so he stood up but then started crying. He had trouble getting off of the bed and started limping.

I let him outside and he was still crying and limping. He didn't go to the bathroom, just laid down in the grass with a sad look.

** This is an 11 year old english springer **

Is it possible that he was just really tired? What else could be an issue? He has been fine until now.

Thank you all so much in advance
sounds like he may have a bit of arthritis in his legs. Usually after resting for awhile, they will be stiff and sore until they get moving around a bit. Also if it's cold it could be hurting more then normal. you should advise your neighbor of this and suggest she take him to the vet for a check up. they can give her pain medication to manage the pain and get him back to his happy healthy self in no time. it will eventually get worse so the quicker they start treating it, the better for the dog.
NO the dog is not just tired. Try calling a local vet and explain what happened, they should be able to help you out.
Limping and crying=he is hurt! go see a vet. u dnt wanna harm a friends dog or injur him for life!
Probably hurt himself goofing around and slipped on the floor.

A baby aspirin (just one) or half a tablet of Aleve (Naproxen Sodium)

Aspirin is more for inflammation.

Naproxen more of a muscle relaxer. (<<
Do none in excess for more than 2 days.

Maybe 2 doses per day to be cautious.

If the pain continues call the vet and tell them the dogs age and you suspect he hurt a hip joint.

Most treatments for that injury cover many others that are not caused by a more serious condition.

It's doubtful that the dog developed a painful arthritis over the course of a day.

You can also probe around for a spider bite.
Its a possibility he is starting to get signs of arthritis. If not, there might be a chance he hit his paw on something, or his nails are really long. When a dogs nails get long they curve towards the skin, and it results in serious pain for the dog. Give him a look over the next time your over there. Check his paws for possible small injuries, check to see if his nails are over grown, etc . If you find nothing, call your neighbors, and if they give you the OK call their vet.
