Do you agree with BSL?

In my city, Winnipeg, our politicians enacted BSL against Pit Bulls. We are trying to overturn that legislation as we, the informed public, agree with statistical and scientific data that it is not the breed that is to blame, but rather the humans behind the breed.

Help us reach 5000 votes to get the attention of our daft mayor, Sam Katz. Help him pull his head out of his rear.

Thanks,

* I mean for this not to be a spam-ish type of question. I'm just passionate about removing this STUPID bylaw and giving this breed a chance to make these politicians eat their words. Again, thanks for your help!
yes i agree with bsl and no i will not sign a petition ... there is no need for any person to own a dog that will randomly kill other dogs, and due to poor breeding for so long, that dog aggression is almost on par with human aggression ... who cares if it is not the breed to blame, it is the end result that matters ... and the end result is these dogs are unpredictable at the best of times ... you can't ban people so the dogs have to go ... i say, good for winnipeg, a no-where town no one would willingly go to, has the intelligence to bring about bsl ...
ABSOLUTELY NOT pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

No breed is more aggressive then the other they all have the potential to lose it

It depends on the owner.

now some breeds are more prone to having dominance issues and high prey drive but they need an owner to give them a firm hand

in Ontario they are starting to consider lifting the ban because it is too vague

pit bulls have high prey drives meaning they are prone to having animal aggression if not socialized young. but they have very little human aggression out of 5 "pitbull attacks" only 1 is actually a pitbull the other 4 are dogs mistaken as pitbulls (labs , boxer mixes, certain hounds, american bulldog,

catahoula cur, ridgeback, and many others) TRUE pitbulls/staffies have very low human aggression and have one of the highest temperment testing pass rates!!!

SO TAKE THAT AND STUFF IT UP YOUR BUTT BSL
No I don't. Not my fault that they don't ban people from just breeding their pet quality dogs and don't genetically test them and that these dogs become aggressive because of it and bad owners. If they had tight laws on who can breed then they'd see how wonderful pits actually are. Its not like a person where they have a right to have kids, every pet quality dog should be spayed or neutered.
Eye - How the heII do you have a TC badge? It's not possible with that much ignorance. I agree that it is you who is the result of poor breeding.

Some states/counties ARE cracking down on BYBing, but it's NOT working. Animal Control and the authorities can't knock on EVERY door and inspect back yards of EVERYONE they suspect is breeding. The law is most definitely NOT on our side. Stupid legislators are NOT helping, they are making the problem worse.

people do not understand how by allowing bans of some dogs you open the door for bans on others, you have to educate the public as to why BSL is bad

write a letter to your local newspaper - letters to the editor.
No, even though some ignorant people intentially breed and train pitts for agression, they arent all like that. Then some ignorant people think that half the dogs they see are pitt bulls, and that's stupid. I `ve seen places where they actually banned boxers because they associate the sweet, gentle boxer with a pitt bull because they think it looks like a pitt. lmao idiots
i have a pit .. i know a lot of people who own pits .. BANNING THEM IS NOT FAIR!! its not their faults so many people ABUSE them and make them mean .. you can make ANY dog mean if you abuse them my pit is the biggest baby ever she takes up my whole bed just so she can lay with me and my boyfriend
Out with BSL ................ pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

............. And in with OSL (owner specifific legislation).

If a person wants a dog (ANY DOG) - make them prove they are qualified to keep it from becoming a nuicance or a threat to the general public.
It's unconstitutional. No due process.

So as a True Patriot, I'm 110% against it.
BSL has good intentions, they're just stretching the limit by a lot! BSL doesn't work, so there is no need to enforce it ..
I don't agree with BSL. The intentions are good, public safety is the primary concern, but it doesn't actually solve any problems. Why? Look at the UK. Pit bulls are completely outlawed there and people still breed them . Obviously the people breeding them aren't concerned with public safety, public opinion, or the well being of the pups they produce, the only reason to keep breeding an illegal breed that can get you into a crap load of trouble is money. Money money money. The law-abiding citizens don't own these dogs because IT'S ILLEGAL. They don't want to get a fine or any other legal action, they don't want to risk bringing a dog home only to have it discovered and potentially euthanized, etc.
