Well we rescued a puppy from an abusive home and at first he was shy, pretty much traumatized from his previous owners and now he runs around chewing on everything. We left him along for like 5 minutes and came back, he pooped in his kennel. We found out why later, he was chewing on the cord next to him and got shocked the s *** out of him ... He goes around chewing on water bottles, shoes, toys, wood, the side of his kennel, cords , and anything else that will fit in his mouth ... Is he being a normal puppy, or do puppies go through teething like babies do???
They do! I have a 4 1/2 mo old Jack/Chi and he just got done teething. It's normal for a dog to chew, but my dog was a slobbering, whining, chewing maniac! I made sure he had plenty of chew toys around, and I also (it sounds crazy) froze a few soft toys for him. He loved the cruntchy texture of them and the coldness helped sooth his gums. When he started chewing something he's not supposed to have I took it from him and gave him a toy. Also, make sure you puppy proof the house, they love to chew on anything and everything! Good luck ...
Yes puppies go through teething usually between 5 months to 7 months of age. The best thing to do is make sure he has a lot of appropriate things to chew on . If you use rawhide chews make sure they are made in the USA as a lot of foreign countries (China) use arsenic to cure their rawhide. Do not let the puppy just chew on cotton ropes as they can injest the fibers and these are hard to pass collecting in the stomach and causing major issues including death. Take a small washcloth soak it in water or chicken stock, roll it up tightly and freeze it in the freezer. Offer the resulting frozen bone/towel to the puppy to chew on. Make sure you supervise him while chewing on this toy to avoid him injesting the cotton of the towel. The frozen towel will help him with the teething process and the cold will help with the associated swelling/pain in the gums.
Oh yeah , he is a puppy! Buy lots of rawhide and make sure he always has one around. Correct him when he is chewing the wrong thing and praise him for chewing on the rawhide. Keep him in the kennel if you cannot watch him Also, the more exercise he gets the less he will chew. We had a puppy who could not have a fluffy bed. He shredded his bed and the two other dog's beds. He slept on towel in his crate after that ...
Yep, around 6 months old or so puppies go through a teething stage. It's totally normal, and easily controllable. Keep things he shouldn't chew out of his reach, there's a non-toxic bitter apple spray that should keep him from chewing things that you can't move like furniture, and buy him plenty of chew toys to fulfill his chewing needs.
Yes Puppies will instinctively chew, not because they want to punish you for leaving her home alone and locking her in a crate. Puppies chew because they need to. When teething, puppies will chew to alleviate as much discomfort as they can. Think about it, if you had 42 adult teeth growing in, you'd want to alleviate the pain.
OH YEAH! They sure do! Get him LOTS of things he is allowed to chew on with several different textures. You can find a wide variety at the dollar store. Rawhide can swell up in his stomach and is often treated with arsenic so I wouldn't recommend it. A better choice would be a bully stick. Freezing raw marrow bones and giving one to him will keep him busy, is good for him, and will help ease the gum pain of teething.
Both.

Puppies will chew on ANYTHING and everything. Which is why its your responsibility to supervise him, puppy proof your home and provide him with appropriate chew toys. Also around the 5-6 months range his adult teeth will start coming in.
Yes dogs teeth, our dog chewed the heck out of the bottom of our stair rail, he also chewed our fingers and hands if we let him.
Yes they do. Their puppy teeth are sharper then their adutl teeth and they fall out over a period of six months to a year.
Yes ... depending on how old he is it will be because of teething and if he's trained to chew on certain toys he won't chew on other things, like your stuff.
Oh yes! Every dog has to go through teething! Get lots of chew toys and bones but mostly bones because they clean its teeth.
