Hey, I was thinking of getting a miniature American Eskimo dog and I have a few questions ..
1. Okay, in some pictures, the dog looks like it has a LOT of fur, and in some it looks okay. For example ..
This one has a little
http://www.breederretriever.com/photopos ... And this one has a lot
http://remarkabledogs.com/wp-content/upl ... Is this just a season thing or what?
2. What is the average price for these cute puppies? I see some that are $ 300, but I'm not sure if they're legit.
3. If you have an American Eskimo, could you tell me a little bit about your dog? How easy it was to train, how it reacts to strangers, etc.
4. This is just a general question: how do you discipline your dog? I hear you tap its nose when it does something wrong, but I'm not sure if it's there's a more effective way.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com There are a lot of questions, so don't feel compelled to answer all of them. Just a little bit of one would be very helpful! Thank you.:)
1 ~ They're supposed to have a very full coat like the "a lot" one has.
AKC States-"The American Eskimo Dog has a stand-off, double coat consisting of a dense undercoat and a longer coat of guard hair growing through it to form the outer coat. It is straight with no curl or wave. There is a pronounced ruff around the neck which is more noticeable on dogs than bitches. Outer part of the ear should be well covered with short, smooth hair, with longer tufts of hair growing in front of ear openings. Hair on muzzle should be short and smooth. The backs of the front legs should be well feathered, as are the rear legs down to the hock. The tail is covered profusely with long hair. THERE IS TO BE NO TRIMMING OF THE WHISKERS OR BODY COAT AND SUCH TRIMMING WILL BE SEVERELY PENALIZED. The only permissible trimming is to neaten the feet and the backs of the rear pasterns. "

2 ~ I take it you're going on Puppyfind? FFS. Go to the Eskie Club of America and find REPUTABLE BREEDERS there. If you want to go to a website, try
http://www.petfinder.com/ ... all other sites are scams. It depends on the dog's pedigree, and the quality, it can range from $ 500 +.
3 ~ N/a. Just research casual temperament of the Eskie.
4 ~ Pop of the leash, training collars, "No!", Verbal and physical corrections is how * i * do it ... Try leerburg for helpful training tips and vids.
ETA: DO NOT look on Pets4You either .. & & No, those Breeders show zero signs of pedigree, CH titles, OR health tests. They're more interested in advertising their puppies and family than they are the health.
