my pup is 5 months old, my male dog seems to be taking alot of intrest in her, i thought she was 2 young to get her spade could she be on heat
Your dog is not too young to be spayed, especially if there is an intact male around.
Talk to your vet.
Usually by 6 months, but often sooner. Your dog is NOT too young to be spayed - and you'd do well to have her spayed in order to avoid all sorts of issues, especially unwanted litters.
She could be in heat already, take her to the vet or a spay/neuter clinic and see what they say about spaying her now.
I have a 5 month boxer. My vet told me 8 months is average and wont spay before 8 months. But, from personal experience I had a dog have her first heat at 6 months. I told him that, he says thats the chance I take and if it happens keep her away from other animals.: (
They go through their first heat cycle at around age 1. My dog is 11 months and started her a few weeks ago. you can tell if shes in hear. Her genitals will swell and she will bleed. hope this helps.
5-6 months, its not good to spay your dog until about 1 year old, they don't grow as big and they sometimes die sooner, if you dog is in heat take her away from the male
The recommended time is around 6 months and it actually depends on the dog
if she is in heat you will see a great difference in the size of her vaginal area, along with spotting. shes not too young to get her spayed.
you can get her fixed around 5 or 6 months old and my female blue heeler came in heat for the first time when she was 8 months old.
Six months or around that time. Got a seven month old basset puppy. She hasn't gone in yet though ...
5-6 months:)
