Why is my dog shedding in the Fall?

She is a Sheltie, so she had a pretty full coat when she wasn't shedding so much. We recently moved so I thought it was possible she was shedding due to stress, but I ruled that out because it has been a few months and now her skin is very dry and itchy.

I wonder what it is that is making her itch and shed like crazy?!
Take her to the vet, as he/she will be able to give you a more definitive answer to that question.
Many dogs have a winter and summer coat which they shed in the spring and fall. As for the itching take your dog to the vet to see if any thing's wrong, if there is I'm sure the vet will have a reasonable solution.
its never good to have itchy and dry skin. get her to a vet and maybe they can find medicine or soap that will help with your dog's skin.

and, im not expert on dog shedding but, i thought they shed all year round?
Chrck her dog food and make sure it has Omega 3 and 6 for a healthy skin and coat or she will shed and scratch and loose more hair .
Could be a skin mite. The vet can find them with a skin scrape and treat em with meds.
my dog sheds all year long and he is a beagle just dont worry its just they have a lot of loose fur just brush her often
Have you recently switched your central heating on? That can make the dog start shedding & get dry skin.

Otherwise, one of the other suggestions mentioned: A case of mites/mange or food allergy or stress, is probably to blame.

You need to rule each possibility out, one by one, or take the dog to a vet for a skin-scraping test to identify any mites or parasite infection in the skin.

Edit:

"I recently found bumps on her skin that I think are causing her to itch."

Definitely sounds like mites. Get her to the vet for a skin-scrape test and some meds, before it turns into mange.

You need some of this stuff: Advocate

Have a think about where your dog might have caught them from. A dirty old shed? Green field? Especially in a new property/neighbourhood.
