What are the differences between the American Staffordshire

physical and behavioral differences, and differences in breed history and origin.
They share the same history as the Am Staff is just a watered down version of the APBT. The AKC registered the APBT until they wanted to distance themselves from the whole dog fighting deal. The name was changed and the dog became the Am.Staff.

Physically AmStaffs are a bit more filled out. They also have far less drive than their UKC APBT cousins.

The APBT was first registered in 1898 by the UKC.The AmStaff in 1936 by the AKC.Once the same breed, after the AKC recognition the divide began.

The APBT is a high energy, high drive, working breed.

The AmStaff has been bred mainly for the show ring since its renaming.Becoming a larger, blockier shell of its former self.
