OUTSIDE ... not inside
Once dogs are paper trained indoor they choose where they want to toilet in the house and it is generally not on the paper ... so training has to start from scratch again, confusing for the dog, people get angry/frustrated with the dog, it can make a dog anxious and other negative behaviours occur .... humans fault not the dogs
Potty Trainnig for sure. My puppy is learing that right now, she goes 50% of the time to the door now when she has to go potty and we've had her for 2 weeks she 10% we don't notice her going to the door and the rest of the time she dosen't bother. She can be outside for a long time and after still go inside . -.-
I would do both as needed.
Take the pup out often, especially after eating and keep track of his/her personal potty schedule. Each dog will be a bit different.
Then if you have to leave for extended periods, leave a pee pad by the dog where the dog exits to do their business.
You potty train a child, you housebreak a dog ... and of course housebreak ... paper training is one of the number one mistakes of first time dog owners ... the inside is not the toilet for a dog, the outside is ... so why train one thing when outdoors is what you want???
Outside definitely. When you paper train a dog, your house smells bad and they don't always use the paper to go on. I would much rather get up at 2 am and let my dog out than smell the aroma of doggie doo. I think it is unsanitary.
Potty training OUTSIDE only. Anything else just confuses the dog/puppy and teaches it to make the inside of the house its potty where ever it chooses to go.
POTTY TRAINING! If a dog learns paper training, which occurs inside then they will learn that it's okay to go potty inside.
