As you can see I am quite frustrated. Of all the supposed answers to this question I have read, not one addresses the FACT that there are no holes where you can put your lips to blow; one end unscrews from the other and that's it - no holes to blow through. Can anyone comprehend this question adequately to be able to either give verbal instructions or pictorial ones?!
I think I just bought the same one and had the same question. After playing with it, I have discovered that there is a small shallow slit on both sides of the longer end of the two parts just below where the two ends screw together, this is where I blew into it and the dog woke up and looked at me, so I am guessing that is the right spot to blow on it
I think that's the exact same one I have, though I rarely use it and it's out in the car and it's dark and snowing so I'm not going to go look for it to check. If I remember right, you blow into the silver end, the end with an inch and a half of silver, not the little knob on the end of the black part. You loosen or tighten the part that unscrews to give a lower or higher whistle . If it's really high, you're very unlikely to hear anything but your dog might wake up in a hurry. Give him a treat if he comes to check out this new sound, set up a positive association right away. Play with it until you hear a little bit of whistle when you blow hard, then play with it again until you don't hear anything. Those are not high quality dog whistles. I used to have an all metal English made one that was much better but I lost it and have never seen another. And it's a training tool, no more. It merely catches your dog's attention from a distance without you having to yell. People who work Border Collies use whistles for commands but most of us ordinary dog owners never get to that level of expertise.
A silent whistle is a whistle that dog can hear but the sound is on a frequency that does not register in human ears. i don't have a clue as to how to use one without holes though! ! sorry i wish i could help take it back to the store and tell them that u have never used one that looked like that and they will help.

Doesn't matter even if you figure it out, most everyone returns it.
