How should my husky walk with me?

I have a four month old husky, he is really lovely, but when we walk he goes in front and if I want him to come back, i stop and stand there and he looks back at me a sits and he never throws a tantrum. And when I want him to slow down I tug the leash slightly and he looks back by turning his head to the side and he reduces his speed cuz he knows I will stop walking if he goes fast. But, shouldn't he walk next to me? That's what I would prefer, and all this about the alpha and stuff, I really don't care, I just taught Tyson (his name) a whole bunch of commands, his daily routine, the do's and don'ts and although he is naughty, he is a good boy over all, so i dont care bout how i should eat b4 him, walk straight and high, enter a door b4 him and stuff. Anything would be appreciated:)
Yes, he should walk next to you. And good for you for seeing that Alpha training is GARBAGE.

When he gets ahead of you, he gets a "no" and you turn around and walk the other way. You keep doing it. And when he walks appropriately, he gets told "good walk" and "Good boy".
He should be walking next to you. Try giving him only enough leash to be at your side without choking. If he starts to pull give him a little tug and say his name in a firm voice (but not yelling or angry) . Once he starts staying be your side, you can give him some more leash. If he takes advantage of it, reel it in again.
I've always seen trainers do alot of work with treats. This apparently makes the dog want to keep his eyes on you, instead of everything else. This is a good thing, you want the animal to pay attention to you, and what you are doing at all times.

Very interesting approach to leash training your Husky. I have just got my Husky puppy yesterday so am yet to test this one out. If you do - let me know how it goes!
If you want a dog that will walk next to you have to leash train it and it can take a while but he/she will be a great walker in the end and healthy!
i know, i dont even get all this alpha stuff either -.-

this happened to my dog, but after 5 times of walking & tugging, she finally stopped x)
you have to train him how you want him to walk

get a book on training

Here's something that worked for me.

As soon as my dog would pull on the leash, I would stop like you do. Then I turn around and walk the other way for a few steps. Again, I stop and return to walking the way I did before I did this little maneuver . I had to repeat it a number of times but eventually he stopped pulling. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Now, if you want him to walk beside you, you keep him on a very short leash with a firm grasp so he cannot get ahead of you. Of course he might start tugging so you do the moves I mentioned above. Eventually, if you are persistent and patient, he will start walking beside you.

Here's a free e-book on dog obedience training I found. Click on the following link:

I think it is a pretty good book.

Good luck.
You should probably find a trainer to help with him walking on a leash because huskies are notorious pullers. My aunt has two and they were never trained. I cannot walk them anymore because they are such strong dogs that like to pull from their chests and will drag you down the street if you let them. Pulling is an inherited husky behavior so if you don't want to be dragged around you should train him not to pull sooner rather than later. I have a kerry blue terrier and we took her to training before she started having problems walking on a leash and she is my only dog that will walk at my side. She has learned to keep the same pace as the person walking her so going for walks is enjoyable for both of us.
I don't necessatily believe in all the alpha stuff either but i go out the door before my dog. it just makes things more simple so hes not running out the door and that way i have more control. my dog walks beside me and i use treats to get him there.i use a correction collar but if my dog goes ahead of me i dont yank it back to choke him. he is bad about jumping on people so i use it to keep him off of people. anyway, if you teach him heel this will be much easier. if he goes in front of me i just say "heel" and he slows down until he is at my side. then i give him a treat and say good heel. but he is still learning the heel command so you will eventually take the treats out of the equation.
