How does my dog always know when my car is pulling into the

My dog is 16 years old and almost completely deaf, yet every time i go somewhere when i come home she will either come running out of the garage (we have a dog door on the side) or already be waiting down the driveway long before she could possibly see the car. If she cant hear the car coming, and is in the garage so she cant see the car either then how does she know that we are pulling into the driveway? Its the strangest thing but she just always seems to know right when we get home.
Excellent hearing and cognitive powers are the secret. I have an access alley running up the side of my house. My dog can differentiate between cars passing through and each of my son's friends cars. And that may be as many as 20 different cars a day.

I drive a school bus out of a small village; this dog can detect the bus from all the Dodge Ram pickups in town that have the same make diesel (Cummins) engine.
I myself cannot hear the best, especially high pitch noises like whistles or even some people's voices, but can hear really low soft sounds super clearly, especially car doors. Sometimes I can hear my husband coming home before my dogs react! So even though the dog cannot hear well, she likely can still hear the low rumble of the car or maybe even just pick up the vibrations.
she can probably feel the vibrations.

my dads car gives off a low rumbling sound when he goes slowly up the driveway and i can both hear it and feel it.
For humans, almost deaf, you hear nothing, for dogs almost deaf means they can still hear very well just not as well. so she ether hears you or she might sense you coming.
your on a schedule and so is she. she knows what time you come home everyday so she anticipates your return.
She is not as deaf as you think she is. She hears the car. How else would she know?
maybe she can hear you or maybe she does this more then once to see if you are back yet
SMELL!!

dogs have a great sence of smell 40 times better than humans your dog can simply smell your cent or the cars cent that it recognises.

Not as deaf as you think.
Animals can sense things i no it sounds stupid but they can and she most likely is able to sense that you are close by ... my cat is like that to
